Wild Card
To be honest, I think it is a sign this team doesn't wanna give-up Mikey if the front runner to recieve him in a trade backed put by trading for another person... Lowell STAYS!
Hotcorner
I just hope this isn't one of those trades where the Cubs immediately turn around and trade Jose again too.......
MasterChief
some of the cubs fans are saying that Hendry's right hand, Gary Hughes, is saying that the cubs will no longer pursue Lowell. I hope they are right!
Expos Ranchod
Typical Cubs move. :mischief :laugh
farmer_fran
Man, this is great news. I think if Lowell is gonna go another team is going to have to come into the mix because I can't see Lowell going to Dodgers. I don't think they will offer enough. Expos Ranchod
although one thing: Hernandez hasn't played a game at 3B since 2000 They could be getting him just to provide some power...for now. But I doubt they seriously see him as their 3B for the rest of the year.
Fish Fillet
Although I am (as you all painfully know) still firmly a part of the dark side who thinks Lowell is a goner, I have to admit that this does provide a sliver of hope. Further, it's a sliver of hope that is not rumor, innuendo, fantasy or pipedream, but an actual fact. I still worry that the Dodgers are going to make it happen, especially as the NL West tightens even more. They might not have or want to give up what Beinfest wants, so a three-way trade is still a very definite possibility. All in all, score a minor victory for the eternal optimists on the board. Shamrock
All in all, score a minor victory for the eternal optimists on the board. lol Fillet! Every board needs that one or two people that keeps people reasonable or least somewhat in touch with reality. :lol This trade could mean something or it could mean nothing as the Cubs could jsut move him to SS or trade him away. If this means the Cubs are out the picture it could mean the best possible deal is also off the table as well. I don't want Dodgers heap in Beltre, but the Mariners prospects are intriguing and almost comparable to the Cubs. If we can make the climb to .500 maybe the FO will start talking contract extension. Wild Card
I still worry that the Dodgers are going to make it happen, especially as the NL West tightens even more. I still disagree... The Cubs were the likely front-runner to obtain Lowell, because of their depth of prospects. Now that it seems as if the leader in the Lowell race has dropped out, it might just be a signal that Lowell ain't leavin'!
Ramp
Tim Kurkjian was just on ESPNews and he said he still thinks the Cubs will pursue Mike Lowell(meaning Hernandez is just a stop gap)..... but nothing will happen till the All Star Break.... that's it
Wild Card
The Marlins franchise goal was to cut the strikeouts down (hence the Preston/Pierre deal)... Why would we go out and trade for a guy who is a FA after this season, and K's more than P-Willy with less power? Makes absolutely no sense... xdannyx25
also jose hernandez cant hti in Coors, what makes you think he can hit at PPS
Wild Card
Very true... If you struggle at Coors, there is no chance for you at the Pro...
Ramp
im sorry, did i write something that says i want him or even that the Marlins were interested in him??????????? :banghead
Wild Card
They have Alex S. at SS, and then they would have Lowell at third... There would be no room for Jose... I would think that because he is cheap and maybe considered somewhat of a hitter, he would be included in any part of a deal...

Ramp
Alex S has been crappy so they may platoon with Jose if they ever got Lowell(which they wont).... also, why not put Jose Hernandez on the bench even.... I hope he starts hitting for them
