August 2, 200422 yr Author I dont get it 489473 The change in climate and altitude doesn't fare well for Ben?tez who has had problems with doing just that. He has only played 4 games in Bank One Ballpark, totalling 3.2 IP, had 3 saves, and allowed 3 hits. He has been unhealthy this week, so I worry he may get hurt in the Valley of the Sun.
August 2, 200422 yr Author ITS 108 DEGREES! 489478 I know they have a roof, but no word has been given on whether it will be open or closed. I expect it to be closed, but even walking around that town....it will not be good.
August 2, 200422 yr Author Phoenix's altitude is 1,117 ft. above sea level. http://www.penasco.com/tucphx.html That is also quite high up there.
August 2, 200422 yr He's not scheduled to come back until Saturday anyways, so I'm not too worried about him.
August 2, 200422 yr I think we should open up a whole new community forum section called WEATHER just for Cape to keep himself busy. :mischief2
August 2, 200422 yr Benitez to DL? The Marlins will likely place closer Armando Benitez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 23. That transaction means the right-hander will be eligible to come off the DL on Saturday, when the Brewers visit Pro Player Stadium. Because Benitez hasn't pitched since July 22 at Philadelphia, placing him on the DL allows the team to carry pitching depth for the upcoming week. Benitez has 33 saves in 36 chances, but he has been bothered by right elbow inflammation. On Sunday, he threw a light bullpen session. Afterward, he said his arm isn't ready for full velocity. Guillermo Mota will fill in at closer until Benitez is ready. Benitez tossed off flat ground for the first time on Saturday. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...s_fla&fext=.jsp If that is the case I doubt Benitez makes the trip. At least have Mota now to do the job too.

August 2, 200422 yr it hasn't been that bad ... has only broken the 110 mark about a dozen times this summer .. nothing like last year the day game the roof will be shut ... since it hasn't been as hot they've been keeping the roof open for night games ... can expect game time temps to be around 105 with the sun and then dipping to the high 90s as the night progresses will be warm, but nothing that the fish can't handle

August 2, 200422 yr To get things clear on why we do have DST: One of the biggest reasons we change our clocks to Daylight Saving Time (DST) is that it saves energy. Energy use and the demand for electricity for lighting our homes is directly connected to when we go to bed and when we get up. Bedtime for most of us is late evening through the year. When we go to bed, we turn off the lights and TV. Studies done in the 1970s by the U.S. Department of Transportation show that we trim the entire country's electricity usage by about one percent EACH DAY with Daylight Saving Time.
