How long are these guys under contract?

Featured Replies

I just got back from Alabama and my team is complelty different. I was just wondering how long we have these players, expecailly Lo Duca.

I believe Lo Duca and Mota may be arby eligible

Enc is signed thru next year

I thought Lo Duca was definitely a free agent.

you may be right...

or you may be wrong...I thought he was arbitration eligible - same as Penny.

I bet Mike Berardino knows for sure.

so did I, and Im 100% sure that Mota is arby eligible

according to this he is a free agent next year.

mlb contracts

2002: $0.38M (+$0.5M signing bonus)

2003: $2.47M

2004: $3.9M

on some players it says when they are a FA

anyway I thought I read where he was arby eligible

according to this he is a free agent next year.

but it also says if they are arbitration eligible on some players.

Lo Duca, who is earning $4.1 million this season, could also double his salary through arbitration.

double it? Holy crap, no way in hell we pay Lo duca 8 mil next year.

i think we do it if it's only 1 year. we would have paid Pudge $12 million, if he would have agreed to a one-year deal.

I propose we have Farmer Fran, RFerry and Mike Bernardino represent the Marlins in their arbitration hearing with LoDuca. After those three present their cases, LoDuca's salary should probably but cut in half.

I'm sorry but Lo Duca isn't even close to being in Pudge's league. I think about $5 million would be reasonable for Lo Duca. If we weren't willing to pay $8 million to a 26 year old rising star pitcher, why would we give it to a 33 year old catcher who puts up only above average numbers for his position.

I've been saying this for 2 days already. Even if he doesn't double it he's sure to get at least 6. and why would they pay Lo Duca 6 or 7 when they barely offered 8 for the best catcher in baseball at the same age?

I like Lo Duca, he's a good player. Not worth $8 million though.

I agree - not worth $8 million. However he does have more flexibility (position wise) than Pudge and does not have the injury history. Also, the alternatives behing the plate for the Marlins are slim. I think $6 million a year is more realistic.

I hope we can sign he to a long tern deal.

my point isn't that Lo Duca is worth more than Pudge, or even close to as much as Pudge. my point is that this team is all about short-term deals. the reason we did not sign Pudge was not that he wanted $10 million in 2004. it was that he wanted $10 million in 2007, too. if he had taken a one-year deal, we would have likely paid him as much as he wanted (just like we did in 2003).

we need to sign Lo Duca because if we dont we are going to be in the same mess we were in the beginning of the season with no catcher.....who would we get if we dont sign Lo Duca......Castro LOL

Lopez signed for a while

Pudge signed for a while

Kendall signed for a while big contract

estrada braves wont let him go

leiberthal sucks

CJ signed and sucks

Pizza 1B and signed big money

V.Martinez riiiiiight young and getting paid nothing and still has years left before become a FA

Name me a catcher that we can sign for less then Lo Duca and that is better then him.

Willingham should be ready next year. Thank god DePo didn't take him too.
