August 28, 200421 yr I just met Manzy, it was so awesome. As most of you know, there were a bunch of autograph signings all around South Florida today with 3 Marlins players (Manzy, Aguila, Seabass). As most Marlins fans would, I went to the Gonzalez signing first and got there about 20 minutes early. The place was a packed, there were easily 170+ people there before Gonzo even showed up, some people were waiting in line since 10am. They gave tickets out to the first 120 people (I was one of them) and only those with tickets were allowed to get an autograph. I'm waiting there and all of a sudden everyone starts cheering and clapping so i'm assuming Gonzo just showed up, then all of a sudden I see Mike Lowell walking in being escorted by like 4 Marlins security guards lol. Apparently Gonzo couldn't show up so Mike Lowell went to the signing instead, that's awesome and everything and everyone there was very happy but I was pretty disappointed because i've already got Lowell's autograph on a ball (3 times infact) and was looking forward to adding Seabass' to my collection, lol. So since I didn't need his autograph and already had it, only the first 120 people got tickets to get autographs and there were easily 200+ people that showed up so lots of people weren't allowed to get an autograph, there was this kid that was crying his eyes out because he didn't get there in time to get a ticket, he was probably 6 years old, so I just gave my ticket to him and that cheered him up. The Lowell signing was crazy and really busy, there was no time to talk to him or anything and it was very hectic. So anyways, I left BJ's (place where the Lowell/Gonzo signing was) and headed over to Sedano's which was about 10 minutes away and that's where Josias Manzanillo was signing. Manzy was so awesome, there were about 3 or 4 people in line and when it was my turn I took a couple of pictures with Manzy and he signed my ball, he was really nice and we talked about the Marlins for like 4-5 minutes since nobody else was there in line it was so great. Manzy is really down to earth and fun to be around, he isn't crazy like everyone thinks he's actually normal lol. Even though Manzy isn't a premiere player like Lowell or Gonzo, I had so much more fun at the Manzy signing than at the other one which was crazy and i'm glad I gave that kid my ticket and went to see Manzy. I can't imagine how depressing it must be for a pro athlete to go to an autograph signing and only have like 3 people there, haha. Here is a picture that I took of him: Juan Pierre is also going to be signing tomorrow at a Publix in Hialeah at 10:30am but they'll only be giving out tickets to the first 120 people just like the Gonzo/Lowell signing and people will be there lining up beginning at 8am, that's just too early for me considering i'd also have to drive an hour to get there and probably wouldn't even make it in time. One of the Marlins staff at the Manzy signing told me they expect over 500 people to show up so unless you're there waiting on line super early it's doubtful you'll get a ticket.
August 28, 200421 yr Wish I could have gotten to that Gonzo signing...I was gonna go, heard Lowell was going to be there last night @ the game (someone told me)
August 28, 200421 yr Author I really want a Coke right now for some reason. 529893 hahaha :lol .
August 28, 200421 yr Author 3-4 people? man it must suck to be an unknown marlin player 529950 Yep, it was empty. Problem was that the Manzy and Gonzo signings were scheduled at the exact same time, if they were at different times more people would have went to the Manzy signing.

August 28, 200421 yr I remember after a game in Philly, Manzy was walking outtside the ballpark with some friends. Someone recognized him and rushed towards him for an autograph, and Manzy just smiled and pretended he could not understand English. The next day he was chatting with Billy Koch in the 'pen.
August 29, 200421 yr Author My brother tells me he speaks very good English. 530053 He speaks english very well, you can barely even tell that he's got an accent.

August 29, 200421 yr Author The next signing is Cabrera on September 18th (and you've got to pay $25). After that there won't be any more Marlins signings until ST.
