Tejera, Phelps designated for assignment

Michael Tejera - S - Marlins

Marlins designated LHP Michael Tejera for assignment.

Tejera had a 3.97 ERA in 19 starts and three relief appearances for Albuquerque. Some team could claim him and give him a bullpen spot for the final few weeks. Sep. 7 - 6:02 pm et

Tommy Phelps - R - Marlins

Marlins designated LHP Tommy Phelps for assignment.

Phelps underwent elbow surgery after being sent down to the minors in June and has struggled to make it back. He'll probably stay in the organization once he clears waivers. Sep. 7 - 6:00 pm et

Basically they are being taken off the 40-man roster to make room for Kensing and Small for those of you who don't understand what this means.

Very sad news for them both. As many of you know, I am a huge Tejera supporter and hope that he remains with the team. The Phelps thing reminds me of what they did to Brian Banks earlier this year when he went down.

I wouldnt be shocked to see Tejera picked up by someone like the Reds

I hope for Tejera's sake somebody picks him up. We have no use for him. Phelps is one of my favorites, and I hope he gets a shot to make the team next year.

Agreed. He'll have to win it in ST though.

Small has been up a few times this year, how is he not on the 40 man?

Keep in mind Cordero was on the 60-day DL. That probably freed up a spot during the regular season. Now that he's back, someone else had to be moved.

Small was designated for assignment twice and was never picked up by any team.

DING DONG TEJERRIBLE IS GONE....THE MAN WAS A POX UPON THE TEAM.

Nobody's claimed him yet as far as I know. And he was at AAA anyway.

Tejera did not shine too brightly in his one start in with the Hammerheads on August 19. In 3.1 innings against Class-A St. Lucie, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits and walked 3 (2 of them consecutive). After walking the leadoff batter in the 4th, followed by a flyout and a single, he was taken out, and consequently took the loss (Jupiter lost that game 2-1).

I have nothing against him personally, but I don't want to see him with the Marlins anymore.

Anyone remember a few years ago when Tejera first started starting and looked like he was gona turn in to Dtrain, he had a quality start almost every start and fans were flocking to see him for a few games. His curveball was crazy that year, and he spotted his 93 94 mph fastball, if u think about it, if he had control again, his stuff is soo nasty he could be a good pitcher in the majors

I'm going to repeat what I said in another post, you'll never see Jack McKeon and Miguel Tejera wearing the same team uniforms ever again.
