September 8, 200422 yr I'm loving this pickup, with more games than days remaining we need all the bullpen arms we can get and as of now the career-minor league arms we've been bringing up and sending down just have not cut it. David Weathers :thumbup
September 8, 200422 yr This year's Rick Helling Newbies, if you don't know, that's a good thing. 547549 Homerun Helling sucks, I don't care what he did in Miami. (where homeruns are harder to hit)
September 9, 200422 yr I'm happy that we're helping to bolster our bullpen. It's almost as good as last year's now.
September 9, 200422 yr Yeah! David Weathers is an awesome relief pitcher! I always hated to see him face the Marlins and everytime get a double play to get out of jams. This guy was a great setup man for the Mets. Great to see Beinfest making more moves to improve this ballclub
September 9, 200422 yr I'm happy that we're helping to bolster our bullpen. It's almost as good as last year's now. 548191 Uhh... do you remember last year's bullpen? Do you remember last year's team. We're better now and have had a better team most of the season.
September 9, 200422 yr Solid. I like the move. Weathers can team with Seanez to get the game to Mota & Benitez. The bullpen depth could prove especially useful in this upcoming stretch of games where our starters might be getting worn down & may not be going 7 or 8 innings as much...

September 9, 200422 yr Like i said in another thread 2000 76.1 3.07 2001 86.0 2.41 2002 77.1 2.91 2003 87.2 3.08 Consistancy for 4 strate years shows hes not a fluke, Guys look at his numbers, he pitched in NY and then a hitters park in Minute Maid, look at those eras and innings, this guy is a very solid to good middle reliever, pitchers seem to thrive in fla too, Since becoming pra reliever with Milwaukee in 98 hes only had one season with a ERA over 4.Reminds me of Paul Quantrill. Very solid pick up, anyone agree?
September 9, 200422 yr hey, two original Marlins now on the team! :thumbup from ESPN.com Right-hander David Weathers, one of the original Florida Marlins, rejoined the team Wednesday and was greeted in the clubhouse with a hug from first baseman Jeff Conine. "It brings back memories of the old days -- the real old days," said Conine, who was Weathers' teammate on the Marlins' 1993 expansion club. That team lost 98 games, but now the Marlins are contending for a wild-card berth. Weathers was signed to provide depth in the bullpen. "Nothing to lose," manager Jack McKeon said. "He's got some experience. He's had his ups, and he's had his downs." Weathers, 16-22 from 1993 to 1996 with the Marlins, said he's glad to rejoin his former team. "I just wanted an opportunity to pitch," he said. "You want to be in the thick of the pennant race and do what you can to help."

September 9, 200422 yr If it were healthy (although i don't think they would of aquired some people) you have to think this might be one of the best bullpens ever. Ir would turn out that there mop up guy would close for someteams (Spooney)theyd have Seanez Weathers or Koch in charge of the 5th or 6th inning, sick. I know you don't agree but just look. Benitez-Best Closer in the majors Mota- Maybe best setup man in the majors (pitchers more innings thank K Rod Weathers- Besides this year, since he started relieving in 98, only one season with an ERA over 4, and his ERA since becoming a reliever in 98 is 3.25 and that in 468 IP, thats discluding this year. So this guy can pitch. Seanez- Outstanding stuff with his 95 mph FB and his sick slider- great against righties, one of the best in the league against righties. Koch- Used to be a top of the line Closer. He's lost some velocity and command, but when hes on hes as unhittable as anyone, when hes on a hot streak he can be very effective, we saw a streak of 8 consecutive scoreless innings. Fox- Coming into this year was supposed to be one of the better setup men in the league, started showing signs of his 66.2 inning 80 SO 1.89 ERA 2001 season. Spooneybarger- Scouts say he has closer potential, his only semi-full season was in 2002 with ATL 51.1 innings with a 2.63. Pitches alot of innings. Pudge said he had more movement than alot of people hes ever seen. Perisho- Alot better than alot of people think but hey if you have the starter go 6, you have Fox Mota Benitez, there wouldnt really be alot of times youd need a lefty, and if the starter went 5 what the heck throw Spooney or Seanez out there in the 6th.
September 9, 200422 yr one of the best ever? no way the nasty boys would still own us link 548531 I dont see what was soo good about that one, Benitez has better numbers than Myers, Mota can compare to Dibble, the rest of the pen isnt really great.
September 9, 200422 yr well they were semi healthy ok i have no argument 548534 No your right, but im not comparing the pen the marlins have now, im saying if everyone was healthy.
