Posted September 17, 200420 yr HAMILTON, N.J. (AP) Police have arrested the mother of a solider killed in Iraq at a Bush-Cheney rally where first Lady Laura Bush was speaking in Hamilton. Sue Niederer of Hopewell was escorted from the firehouse when she shouted a question at the first lady about why was her son killed. She was wearing a T-shirt with her son's picture that said, "President Bush You Killed My Son." Police arrested her when she refused to leave. Army First Lieutenant Seth Dvorin died in February while trying to disarm a bomb in Iraq. The 24-year-old had just returned to Iraq after spending two weeks with his family. The first lady continued speaking, touting her husband's record on the economy, health care and the war on terror. Several hundred people attended the rally in the swing district. Republicans are encouraged that recent polls have shown an erosion of John Kerry's double-digit lead in the Garden State. ---------------------------------------------- There's your "compassionate conservatism" right there. Wow, just wow. Should I warm up the Horst Wessel song now?
September 17, 200420 yr How can you criticize removing her from the rally? Laura could've have continued with the women yelling.
September 17, 200420 yr would do you mean the republican ss? she would have been taken away at a kerry rally.

Wow, just wow. Should I warm up the Horst Wessel song now? 561844 She was disturbing the rally making it difficult for Laura Bush to continue her speech and thus the mother was removed accordingly just like anyone else, nothing wrong with that. These distraught parents are not thinking clearly at the time and their actions are completely unpredictable and thus they need to be dealt with swiftly, anyone remember a few weeks ago when a father was informed his son was killed in Iraq and he set himself and a marine vehicle on fire? What happened to her son was tragic and is something no parent should ever have to go through, but that does not give her an automatic get out of jail free card and the right to disturb the peace. Also, directly blaming GWB for her sons death is nothing short of ludicrous.
September 17, 200420 yr I have no problems with her being taken away, but why arrested? Thats BS. 562163 I take that with a grain of salt, i dont see on what grounds they would arrest her, unless if she was threatneing someone
September 17, 200420 yr Author Interruptions by the Bush SS occur at Kerry rallies, but you don't see them getting arrested. As a matter of fact, Kerry encourages them to stay, thus defeating their whole purpose.

They had a right to take her out since she was disturbing it, but arresting is like the Nam war protesters. Give me a break, you know that if it was a lady at the Kerry rally who got arrested, you conservatives would be jumping at Kerry and saying he takes all free speech away. So hypocritical...

September 17, 200420 yr The SS Durham is referring to was a Secret Nazi organization that did Hitler's dirty work and teamed with the Gestapo to basically run the reign of fear that was Germany in the 30's and early 40's. Secret Service is rarely abreviated to S.S. because of the real SS.

Why can't SS mean secret service Juanky? It happens to be coincidental the stormtroopers and secret service abbreviations are SS.
September 17, 200420 yr Author That is true. The SS I was referring to was the Schutzstaffel. However, if I were to find an even more relevant historical analogy, it would be the SA (Sturm Abteilung, or stormtroopers, AKA brownshirts), who actually did perform intimidation at rallies running up to an election (the SS was established after Hitler assumed the Chancellory and was engaged in a battle with the SA up through the Night of the Long Knives). So my apologies for mucking up history.

There's no such thing as a republican secret service, the secret service is non-partisan and takes no part in the political process nor do they do anyones dirty work, not to mention the fact that the secret service is also currently protecting Kerry 24/7.
September 21, 200420 yr I have no problems with her being taken away, but why arrested? Thats BS. 562163 Remember the difference between arrest, booking and charging. If they hold you in their custody even just next to them without any handcuffs, you are technically under arrest.
