September 20, 200422 yr Who's your favorite singer. For me, it has to be Tim "Ripper" Owens. From Judas Priest's Jugulator to Iced Earth's The Glorious Burden, his vocals are just absolutely incredible.
September 20, 200422 yr I'm going to have to go with Sting, since he was the lead singer of my favorite band, plus his voice is very soothing in later songs and when he went solo. I also like the guy from ACDC whose name I always forget, along with Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Aretha Franklin, and Aaliyah.
September 20, 200422 yr My favorite singer is Aretha Franklin. I grew up listening to her, and always wanted to sing like her. I also love Freddie Mercury, Charlie Willson (lead singer of The Gap Band), Taylor Dayne, Marvin Gaye, Mahalia Jackson, Bessie Smith and Sarah Vaughn.
September 20, 200422 yr Norah Jones. So smooth. Of course Sinatra comes close and James Taylor is the man.
September 20, 200422 yr Jim Morrison. hes the only one that can sing his lyrics, and hes got a voice you can actually feel. and im not talking "Break on Through" and "Light My Fire"...check out his other stuff. also Freddie Mercury, David Lee Roth, Prince, Chet Baker, Louie Armstrong, Robbie Williams and of course Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. and if i had to pick one female voice, it'd be Natalie Merchant.
September 20, 200422 yr Natalie Merchant...very good pick. LA Woman is a song that people need to check out if they have only heard Light My Fire. That is a great song.
September 20, 200422 yr "LA Woman" is a great song. check out "The End", probably the most emotion youll hear in a singers voice.
September 20, 200422 yr this is a tough one but im gonna name a couple that have stuck around because of their original voice or poise on stage - Cedric Bixler - at the drive in, the mars volta cedric has the most original voice ever and you can recognize it from miles away and know its him. - Phil Anselmo - pantera could there possibly be a biggest badass in the world? ... i dont think so, plus he is the only guy in metal that you could actually understand word by word - Mike Patton - faith no more, mr bungle, loveage, ect ect biggest musical genious of our era enough said - Freddy Mercury - biggest pipes in the world
September 20, 200422 yr marvin gaye, lauryn hill, aaliyah, maxwell, mary j, alicia keys and luther vandross.
September 20, 200422 yr Lotsa love for Freddie... good to see. :thumbup He left us too soon. There's so many great singers I like in so many different genres, it's hard to pick just one... Diane Schuur, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Brightman, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Buddy Guy, Jon Anderson, Frankie Ruiz, Daryl Hall, Dennis DeYoung, Ray Charles, Aretha, BB King, Philip Bailey, Huey Lewis, George Michael, Freddie Mercury... etc. I also like the guy from ACDC whose name I always forget... They have had two singers ? Bon Scott (1974-80) and Brian Johnson (1980-present).
September 21, 200422 yr Paul McCartney, because he is the best songwriter of all time and is British.
September 21, 200422 yr 3. Beth Orton 2. Bono 1. David Bowie(The best example is the remix of Bring me The Disco King from The Underworld Soundtrack)
September 21, 200422 yr the forgotten one Elvis Costello - never has a voice sounded so tasty and gone down so easily ... charming :lol

September 21, 200422 yr I like the lead singers' voices for the bands Saliva, Linkin Park, and Tantric.
September 24, 200422 yr Paul McCartney, because he is the best songwriter of all time and is British. 566455 You mean John Lennon? Oh, and Thom Yorke, Sam Beam, and Kasey Chambers.
September 27, 200422 yr i've really never thought about it.. but im listening to the red hot chili peppers right now so i'll say anthony kiedis 566865 Kiedis has got to be the most overated singer ever ... i love the RHCP but kiedis is not a singer by any mean
September 27, 200422 yr and what makes you say he is the most overrated singer ever? lol but anyway, the last time i checked this is who i think my favorite singer is.. and i really never said he was my favorite singer but you're right, the chili peppers do kick ass. 20 years they've been around.. but you have no basis to say he's the most overrated singer ever.. lol
September 27, 200422 yr totally but ... dont take it so personal doood take a good listen to the peppers man ... he cant hit a high note, he doesnt have range and he is only better because of the great musicians around him make him better
September 27, 200422 yr take a good listen to the peppers man ... he cant hit a high note, he doesnt have range and he is only better because of the great musicians around him make him better 574660 I've been taking a good listen to them for years.. RHCP is my favorite band.. BSSM is one of my favorite CDs ever. Totally funky shite. But personally bro, I don't really feel the need to break down a singer's abilites... especially when originality and his mannerisms are the main reasons why I like him so much. either way dude i respect your opinion.
