Posted October 3, 200420 yr Man I am so pissed beyond belief right now. Craig just said during Marlins On Deck that Wayne Rosenthal will NOT be back as pitching coach next season but was offered a job as pitching coach for AA Carolina :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown . Doug Davis was also offered the same deal as bench coach for AA Carolina and bullpen coach Tony Taylor was "dismissed" but I can't really blame the FO for not bringing him back. Bill Robinson and Pierre Arsenault will not be back either. Perry Hill and Jeff Cox were both offered contract extensions for next season so they'll most likely be back, but either way not bringing Rosey back is BLASPHEMY!!!!!! Disgusting decision by the FO not to bring back Rosey, just horrible. You will be missed Rosey, you will be missed.
October 3, 200420 yr Author This is just total disrespect by the Marlins towards Rosey, they should have at the very least offered him a job as manager of one of our minor league affiliates, not pitching coach. Even manager of the class A Greensboro Bats would have been a great deal, but a minor league pitching coach? Rosey deserves better.
October 3, 200420 yr Why you get rid of the person most responsible for the pitchers' success over the last two seasons, I don't know. :dont :wacko : :mad :
October 3, 200420 yr Author THIS IS THE DARKEST DAY IN HISTORY! 580116 A dark day indeed. October 3rd, 2004 will forever live in infamy as "BLACK SUNDAY". You thought the curse of the Babe when he left the Red Sox and went to the Yankees was bad? That's nothing compared to the BLACK SUNDAY curse. All i've got to say is the FO better have one hell of a pitching coach for us next season, mabye Nolan Ryan is looking for work? I call on all Marlins fans to join together in support of Rosey. Next season when this "new" bigshot pitching coach makes a trip to the mound during a home game, all Marlins fans need to start chanting "WE WANT ROSEY."
October 3, 200420 yr I don't get how you can blame Wayne Rosenthal for not making the playoffs this season. He did a GREAT job. This is utter bs.
October 3, 200420 yr From the Palm Beach Post: Decisions on the Marlins' coaching staff will be made today. There's speculation that at least one coach, possibly pitching coach Wayne Rosenthal, will be fired. Rosenthal has clashed this season with several pitchers, including starters with whom he hasn't spoken with for the past two weeks. Link
October 3, 200420 yr Author I don't get how you can blame Wayne Rosenthal for not making the playoffs this season. He did a GREAT job. This is utter bs. 580126 D-Train would not have matured the way he has without Rosey, AJ would not have made a comeback like he did without Rosey, Pavano would not have had a Cy Young caliber season without Rosey, I can go on all day. Rosey did everything you could possibly imagine and more, it's not his fault we had one of the worst offenses for the majority of the season where our pitchers needed to pitch a no-no every game just to get a W. Mabye is Pavano did infact win the Cy Young, they'd let Rosey come back?
October 3, 200420 yr One of the worst front office decisions ever. 580134 I think that's a little exaggerated. There was obviously problems between the pitchers and Rosenthal that led to him not being brought back. Plus, you have to remember, McKeon never chose to hire him, and he couldn't make any major changes to the staff after winning a World Series. Perhaps Jack wants to bring in some of his own people.
October 3, 200420 yr Author I can't believe this is happening. The store at www.floridamarlins.com is having a special deal where you can get 15% off so I was planning on buying a Wayne Rosenthal jersey to wear next season, ughhhhhh.
October 3, 200420 yr Author I think that's a little exaggerated. 580141 Admin isn't exaggerating, Wayne Rosenthal is the greatest pitching coach the game of baseball has ever seen, he should be in the hall of fame.
October 3, 200420 yr HORROR SERIOUSLY I thought Craig said they offered Bill Robinson his job...if that's true, W.T.F. Rosey has worked miracles with guys... What a dark dark day.
October 3, 200420 yr f***ing crap. EXTENSION FOR COX??? That douchebag has f***ed up so many times this year, I could do a better job. This sucks balls.
October 3, 200420 yr if he is clashing with pitchers, it's better off him not being there 580148 Yup If the man does not get along with the pitchers how can you expect him to help them. How much has he really even helped anyways? Dontrelle has improved but not that much. Beckett was not good this year. Burnett was average this year. Pavano many have credited his studying to his success so Rosenthal didn't have much to do with that. He has not helped a bullpen pitcher whatsoever. Nate Bump will often be wild(although he has been pretty good in the second half) Ben Howard is still wild as anything. Penny had improved int he beginning of the season but sucked in June and July.

Outside of Benitez, and until recently, Mota, the bullpen was a disaster this year.
October 3, 200420 yr Pierre Arsenault!!!!!!!!! how does a bullpen catcher get dumped? this is shocking and dissapointing
October 3, 200420 yr They're running an insane asylum. The primadonna is in charge. You know who I mean. Trade that a**hole with the blisters.
