June 30, 200322 yr rumor is that the Marlins may be looking to unload Derrek Lee to the Braves for Jason Marquis and Mark DeRosa and the Marlins have entertained the idea of a Brad Penny for Rafael Palmeiro deal(if the Rangers pick up all the salary) remember they are just rumors, but i thought you would like to hear them
June 30, 200322 yr Interesting moves...I guess we could then move Luis for some bullpen help. How about to San Diego for Matt Herges and Jay Witasick? Moving Lee and Castillo could also open the door for signing Lowell to a long term deal. *A guy can dream, right?
June 30, 200322 yr whoa!!!!! where did you hear those rumors.....those are pretty sweet!!, marquis starts right?? and is young too?
June 30, 200322 yr DeRosa is a good infielder and 2B. :thumbup Marquis is a better starting pitcher/bullpen guy than Penny looking at his results :thumbup Palmeiro is a future HOFer with 500 HR :thumbup Braves need future at 1B that has good D. (Fick is gone next season and Franco is backup) :thumbup Rangers need pitching bad! :thumbup I SAY LETS DO IT! WIN-WIN-WIN SITUATION YIPPEEE!
June 30, 200322 yr we would get palmeiro who is better. both fick and palmeiro are free agents next year, i believe.
June 30, 200322 yr Author and i would think palmiero would cost us some prospects too....... nope Brad Penny would be fine......... I said to throw in Tejera too but I dont think thats happening I heard these rumors from my friends at Fox Sports Net

June 30, 200322 yr Fish Fan.... they tried to deal Juan Gone for two B List prospects. A Major League pitcher for Palmeiro would be great for them! They cna resign Penny easily next year.
June 30, 200322 yr FSN does Marlins, Rangers, and Braves game...so these rumors may not be far-fetched.
June 30, 200322 yr How about Luis & Castro to SD for Rondell White and some relief help? Projected Lineup Pierre DeRosa Pudge Lowell Palmiero Encarnacio White Gonzalez
June 30, 200322 yr Palmiero is a mistake. He would never sign here, so you are looking at renting a player for a couple of months (And that's only if he doesn't have a no trade in the first place). Raffy is just like Juan in that they are rapidly approaching (or have passed in Juan's case) the time in their careers when they can play every day in the field. Both of them are destined for the wonderful land of the AL and the DH. As for Castro, might wanna think twice about that. He's cheap, he's got great potential, and he's our starting C for years to come after Pudge goes on his merry way.
June 30, 200322 yr I wouldn't trade Castro and castillo for White. I would trade castillo for white, maybe. Palmeiro isn't a bad first baseman defensively or offensively. He would be an improvement over DLee this season. Marquis and DeRosa would be a steal from Atlanta and fill our potential needs at 2B and anywhere you need a pitcher (starter or bullpen).
June 30, 200322 yr palmiero makes this line up so formidable!!!! im creaming myself just thinking about it check it out..... JP - CF A-gon - SS Pudge - C Hulk - 3B Raffy - 1B Encarnacion - RF Cabs/Banks - LF DeRosa/Fox - 2B P How sweet is that!!! Raffy is have a good year, and latley has been doing even better, and he's a lefty!!!!! please make this happen FO.......i feel like this is very wishful thinking though.........

June 30, 200322 yr That woudln't be the line-up... More likely... Pierre DeRosa Pudge Hulk Raffy Jaun Alex Cabs

June 30, 200322 yr ESPN STATS ON RUMORED PLAYERS MARLINS GET: Mark DeRosa Rafeal Palmeiro Marquis, Jason -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- International League ? Richmond Braves 04/22 to 06/29 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 5 3 0 3.15 11 65.2 60 28 23 25 50 3 OTHER TEAMS GET: Derrek Lee Brad Penny
June 30, 200322 yr Btw.. Raffy's RISP stats are WAY better than DLee.. Raffy RISP: 20-for-67 (.299) DLee RISP: 21-for-81 (.259)
June 30, 200322 yr The rumored (is it even a rumour?) Braves trade makes a ton of sense - Lee for Marquis and DeRosa. One makes $340k and the other $368k. Lee makes $4.25mil this year and will command around $6 mil next year. Neither player is a bonafide major leaguer yet. Marquis is back in AAA at Richmond. Marquis has to be an improvement over Tejera. DeRosa has not proven he can play every day at the MLB level and his bat is weak weak weak. DeRosa can replace Andy Fox who the Yankees and other have expressed interest in. Fox makes $800k this year. BTW, so I don't have to write an extra note, Cape, you said the Braves are done by Fox? The Braves are owned by AOL/Time Warner the mortal enemy of Rupert Murdoch who owns Fox. To say there's bad blood between the two organizations in an understatement. They despise each other. The Braves I believe are done by their parent company, TBS, which is owned by AOL. If I'm wrong a thousand pardons.
