October 7, 200422 yr ever written to a player at the stadium and gotten a response? I just finished up a letter to JP and Im wondering if its gonna be a waste. I didnt really ask for anything I just said no players come close to the fans and autograph much but he always waves and says hi to fans.
October 7, 200422 yr Well not for baseball. About 7 years ago, I wrote to the Indianapolis Colts and I got back the roster photo and a sticker.
October 7, 200422 yr Yep.. I wrote a letter to Gregg Zaun a few years ago and he responded within a few weeks. I forgot exactly what he wrote though :headscratch I have to go in the attic and find the letter

October 7, 200422 yr Your best bet would be to wait until ST to send your letter to JP I would bet he doesnt check his mail att he Pro too often in the offseason

October 7, 200422 yr Author I really would have expected an autograph too....... they just sent an unsigned pic?
October 7, 200422 yr i emailed preston wilson at the end of the 2000 season but never got a response. i figure he never got it since it was a few weeks after the season ended. i just told him that i loved him as a player and how much i love the team. didnt ask for an autograph or anything though.
October 7, 200422 yr I really would have expected an autograph too....... they just sent an unsigned pic? 584915 It's pic of the whole team, and they also send a sticker of their logo. I really didn't expected anything since they're busy and all.

Its still alot better than not even getting a response at all. I guess thats also nice of them considering there busy.
October 7, 200422 yr Author You should, " your hand mite get cramped up by the time ur done writing the letter" but still u soooo should
October 7, 200422 yr Author If the teacher didn't make us write a letter, I wouldn't have done it. :lol :lol :lol
October 7, 200422 yr While I've never written a player, I do know a few of them and I'll give you some advice if you do write a player. ALWAYS include return postage, yes these guys make money but they don't want to spend it mailing something back to someone. Also place only one or two items that you are seaking autographed, whatever it is pictures or cards. Don't count on the signiture being an actual autograph of that player, most clubhouse guys can duplicate signatures like the pros. And lastly be patient when waiting for a response, some guys get lots of mail and others just don't like answering it, but reluctantly do so. Good Luck.

Good Luck. 585093 My brother mailed McGwire back when he was in Oakland after he knocked 50 for the first time and never got a response despite enclosing the letter with a card and a return envelope. I can't imagine a player sitting through every single piece of mail they receive from fans and responding to it... I'm sure if you do it enough with the same player you'll get a response eventually if they aren't too out of reach. I'd imagine players like ARod, and Sosa would have the bat boy just throw it all out upon arriving...can't blame them either. And then there are players like Bonds...in which case you'd be wasting your time writing a letter even thinking there was a remote chance he would even touch it even if for some miracle of a reason he only received a couple of envelopes in a week...
October 7, 200422 yr I sent a letter to Conine and with a baseball card in it so he could sign back when he was with the Orioles but never got a response. He still awesome tho. :thumbup
October 8, 200422 yr I sent a bunch of letters to players in the mid-90s and got a Hideo Nomo unsigned 8x10. Then last year, in my old age, I wrote Dontrelle. This was right after he hit the homer against Cincinnatti.
October 8, 200422 yr I wrote to Derrek Lee during Spring Training this year... the 8x10 I sent him came back signed... I was so excited and thrilled, then I realized he didn't bother taking the photo out to sign it, he signed the damn plastic holder!!! So I rewrote him and enclosed the photo again, this time saying please sign the PHOTO, and about 10 days later, it came back, this time the photo was out of the holder in the envelope, and the photo itself was signed.

Good Luck. 585093 I wouldn't suggest trying this with "big stars" such as Cabs, or Lowell. I've tried anyone from Penny to Choi to Lowell to Cabrera with no luck at all. Of course, this was near the start of the season throughout the season, sent two or three letters..
October 9, 200422 yr I've heard that JP is one of the players who doesn't respond personally... he has his family members, mostly his mom, "respond" to his fan mail, not sure what "responds" means as far as signing autographs.

He came out, looked like he would stop for the few of us then sped off :|
