October 13, 200421 yr This season was without a disappointment because we were the reigning world champs and couldn't even make it back to the post season, but just because it was a disappointment doesn't mean it was a faillure. So yes, finishing above .500 for only the third time in franchise history = successful season.

With all of the things I said, raising ticket prices doesn't help any at all. So this season, or year, the organization has not been sucessful in my eyes, taking more steps back then forward.

Of course the season was a success considering we were still in the hunt for the playoffs very late into the season. Remember that on most years past the Marlins were usually out of it by the All Star break, or shortly after the all star break.

But taking the teams point of vew, they might be better getting a few 100 or 1000 less if they can charge more. Believe it or not, you are sometimes better off if you dont sell out. For example having 10,000 fans at 10 dollars a ticket = $100,000. Whereas 8,000 fans at 15 dollars at ticket = $120,000. Remember baseball is a buisness as well as a sport.
October 13, 200421 yr I wonder for those who called this season a dissappointment, understand that baseball is the hardest sport to make the playoffs, and it is even more difficult to repeat as a WS champion. This was the Marlins 3rd count them 3rd winning season EVER. In sports your not always gonna win the title, and in baseball youre not always making the playoffs. Did this team underachieve at points in the season, sure they did, but did this team over perform in other parts of the season, absolutly. I am proud of my 2004 Marlins, they gave it a great effort, with just 2 weeks left in the season they were still in the hunt. Hopefully they will be better (record wise) next year and we can all jump up and down saying how AWESOME the Marlins are. Regardless I have respect for my team, and I will be there next season rooting them on.

October 13, 200421 yr If we were the Phillies, spending big money and expected to win the division, then I would say no. Since didn't have their budget or those expectations, I would say the season was very successful and the FO did their thing to give us a good shot at the postseason.

October 13, 200421 yr This past season the month of September meant something. It matter, it was important, every game was do or die, and it was September ! Do people forget that before 2003, and after 1997 that by the time September rolled around the Marlins were found on the back page of sports section next to yesterdays Jai Ali results. Instead this season and last September was actually a month where we marlins fans could actually see meaningful baseball. Yes we failed in that in September they could not pull it out, but to say that the season was a failure and that the season was not a success, is just being a hater. Those of you who think this season was a failure probably became Marlins fans last year, and if you think this season was not entertaining and fun and enjoyable, than you have no clue as to what baseball is and what baseball means

Was it as successful as some of us had hoped? Perhaps not. Was it more successful than some of us thought? Maybe.
