Cubs looking at your guy.

Len Kasper is the best announcer in baseball and he is a fan favorite, everyone down here loves him.

I really don't think Len will go. Neither will Matt. The Cubs will likely have to use their sports director from WGN.

He is a great play by play guy along with Tommy Hutton

heck no, he wont go. at least, i hope he wont. hes definitely a fan favorite, and i'll be pissed if he goes to chi-town.

To be honest, in the half-dozen or so games I saw a FSN Florida telecast I was unimpressed by Len or Tommy. Maybe it's just that I was comparing them to two great duos, Dave Van Horne and Jon "Back to my room?" Sciambi from Marlins Radio; and Joe Angel and Buck Martinez of the Orioles.

You need to tune into more than 10 games. They do 150 of our telecasts every year. You should be able to see at least 50 from FSN Florida's feed.

I can't get Extra Innings or MLB.TV with my computer and cable plan. Dave Van Horne is the best in the game at what he does that even if I had Extra Innings I'd turn down the volume and listen to radio.

Realistically, I don't see how Kasper can say "No" to the Cubs if they ask. WGN is a national audience. The only way he would stay here is if he were totally devoid of ambition, and I don't think he would be where he is if that were true. As for whether or not he is "good," that depends on what you like in a play-by-play guy. If you liked Chip Caray, you'll like Len Kasper. He's pretty much from the same mold.

RFerry, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I can't keep silent on yours about Len Kasper.

 

The combo Kasper and Hutton are just terrific. I wouldn't trade either for any pair in baseball broadcasting and I've heard some of the best from Curt Gowdy to the present crop.

 

Len has done a wonderful job of reuniting fans in South Florida with the game. I'd hate to see him go.

 

They say if you can't say something nice about a guy, don't say anything but I can't agree with you about Van Horne/Sciambi, especially the latter who's been trying to get out of here for years and remains a Marlins broadcaster simply because no one else wants him.

Boog has approached reality. Took him almost two years to be a decent partner to DVH and respect Dave's knowledge and experience. Boog's probably still stunned that the Mets (or others) did not want him. But, he is knowledgeable and now that's he's become comfortable with DVH they make a valuable team.

(And I'm a regular radio listener.)

 

I like the rotation idea (DVH/Boog splitting TV and Radio.) It's good to hear a different voice every few innings.

 

AND I like a radio announcer on TV so I get play-by-play, pitch-by-pitch coverage... radio style on TV.

Sounds like a great guy, too bad he ended up leaving.

 

It will be a shame that I will only get to hear him about 5 times in the upcoming year -- see I really don't watch the Scrubs - they suck!

 

I guess them getting Len gives you one more reason to hate them...not that you needed more than one.

When the Fish go to Chicago, i'll definitely be tuning into the WGN broadcast instead of FSN, hopefully the WGN broadcast won't be blacked out.
