More impressive consecutive games streak?

Cals

Cal Ripken by a mile. Remember, this guy put together his streak while playing shortstop, likely the most demanding defensive position in baseball.

SportsCenter did a poll during the 6pm show and Bret Favre won by just 250 votes out of 120k plus. What was funnier was that SC held a debate between two football guys and ofcourse both chose Favre.

What puts Ripken over Favre is that they say "football is a tough sport." Well guess what in football you have a week to recover somewhat from anything you suffer during the game. In baseball you have to go out the next day and play on that injury.

Both streaks have a lot of luck involved uin them, one hard slide or hard hit and both miss a game.

I don't consider Favre's record to be untouchable at all. Meanwhile, I think it will be a very, very long time before someone even comes within TEN YEARS of Ripken's record.

I don't think it's even close.

I agree its Cal, but by FAR the most demanding position is catcher

Meh, I say Brett. He's played through injury. His streak has been going about 10 years (?). For any QB not to get hurt is awesome.

Can we get off Favre already? They acted tonight like he died and was never playing again. The man is human and it will show next week when the Eagles smack his ass around the stadium. Remember this "god" is only .500 on the road. Madden makes me sick with his d*** sucking of Favre already.

oh give me a break

you sound like a 9 year old kid talking like that

Good OLine keeps you healthy, no such luck for a baseball player.

Forgive me, I don't watch a ton of baseball, but I watch enough. Baseball's not a contact sport. Yeah, 2,000 + games is awesome, you figure you'd at least tweak something during that time. But 200 in the NFL? Whew.

Baseball players play 5-6 times a week, I dont care what you do, thats a grind, dont forget double headers, night games, then day games, etc, Baseball may not be a "contact" sport but it is physically demanding for the amount of time they play.

I bet you a 95 MPH fastball to the ribs drops you alot quicker than a 250 pound LB.

In baseball you have to play everyday for 6 months, traveling sometimes three times a week, and often playing the same day you were on a plane. In the time it takes to play that many games, the law of averages says you'll get hit by a pitch at least 20 or so times, foul countless balls off yourself, pull some radical body movements to get to a ball in the hole and turn towards first to make the play, avoid runners coming spikes up into you, etc. Oh, and you have to do this everyday of the week, not once a week. This isn't including stupid injuries that might occur along the way on the field, like being involved in a brawl, getting beaned in retaliation for something a teammate did, sliding wrong, etc.

Cal all the way....let Bret try it everyday for what 16-17 years...

Farves record will be broken

Noone will ever come close to braking Cal's record..

I suppose it comes down to a matter of perspective. I have much more appreciation for football than baseball, and it seems it's opposite for you. Though that doesn't mean I'm discrediting anything Ripken did, he was awesome and I remember 2,131 when I was a little kid (used to have his newspaper articles posted on my bedroom door)

Remember he played being addicted to pain killers for quite sometime, and dont say it wasnt much because he went to re hab for that crap, that means he was ABUSING them, ofcourse he played through injury he couldnt feel the PAIN

Take the length of Cal's streak (2651) and compare it to Gherigs (2331) streak and how much more percentage (%) wise that it's bigger then Gherigs.

Then do Favres (220) and compare his to Jaworski's streak (116) and Favre has nearly doubled it.

The fact that Favre's streak has nearly doubled Jaw's and Ripkens didn't is whats impressive.

And anybody who says Baseball is a more physical sport then football is just plain crazy.

Both marks are amazing.

However, I have to go with Favre. FB is a violent sports. 200 games for a QB (bullseye of the Defense) is just amazing. Playing in snow, ice, water, heat. Conditions are much more demanding than baseball.
