The Marlins have offered a two-year deal worth between $1.5 and $2 million. But Arizona, Colorado, Los Angeles and Texas are ahead of the Marlins because of the portent of more at-bats. In Florida, Dellucci likely would share playing time with Juan Encarnacion, unless the Marlins can dump Encarnacion's $4.45 million salary. Dellucci hit .242 last season with career highs in homers (17) and RBI (61). ? The Marlins, who lost Armando Benitez to San Francisco, are seeking at least one more late-inning reliever to join likely closer Guillermo Mota and set-up man Tim Spooneybarger. December 2, 200421 yr To be honest, I don't think Dellucci would hit more HR's than Choi(Dellucci had 17, Choi had 15 but of course Choi barely played the last 2 months of the season). That being said, I do think Dellucci would be more consistant than Choi. Obviously getting Dellucci is better than no one. Yay to signing Fox & Milton.

Their all either old, bad or just don't fit with this team. Need we all remember the heartache from Alfonseca games and the many blown saves he's had for us. If it's true that Fox is back, and Spooney's ready to go (considering he will be able to go from ST on, unlike AJ), they wouldn't be anything more than a 6th or 7th inning or mop-up guy. I'd take Hermanson as my #1, but I agree, the names are underwhelming at best.

That could be the difference between him being a $5/6 mil guy or a $8/9 mil guy. Either way, I must say, I've officially changed my position viewing all the contract offers being offered/signed. Pavano at $8 mil is at or below his "new market" value. I still think it's an awful lot to pay for one good year, but we're almost at the point where we have to keep him. I never thought I'd call Pavano the key to our offseason, but with everyone of our "targets" having more interest elsewhere, Pavano's quickly becoming the only option we're still "in."
December 2, 200421 yr I don't know why Hermanson's name keeps coming up as a middle relief option. The reason the Giants didn't keep him is because he wants to start. The only way he would have remained a Giant was if he was either starting or closing. He doesn't want to be a middle reliever.

December 2, 200421 yr I'm glad to hear we could get Chad Fox back. He is very solid when healthy. Hermanson would be #1 priority in the pen if I were the Marlins. It would also be cool to get Alfonseca back along with Leiter to give us some '97 players. While we are at it, I would like to sign Craig Counsell (an upgrade over Mordecai). DeLosSantos is a waste. I'm not real big on Milton but he is an upgrade on Valdes.
