December 12, 200421 yr Wow...Rock on, rferry.... Great post. I'm with you... I think Loria and his front office have been tremendous. He didn't have to try to remain so competitive. He could have played the financial card and said the same thing Henry said, but he hasn't. He's been true to his word, fielding a good team.. And he's also trying his damndest to get this stadium done down here.
December 12, 200421 yr What a downer if the fish move to Vegas. It stinks just thinking about it. I would not be a fan of the Marlins if they move.
December 12, 200421 yr If you dont live in FLorida and dont go to games regularly, then I understand why you would say yes. However, if you do live in Florida (specifically south) why would you still root for them? By them taking the show to las vegas, its the same as them ditching you. If your ex girl friend has dumped you from someone else, do you follow her around and still call her your girlfriend? Hopefully the answer would be no to that 633246 Exactly. Heck no will I root for them. Of course, I have no problem with the players. But I am not going to support the organization (Loria & Co.) I am already pissed off as it is at them. I guess I'll just move on to other things like football, basketball, and the NCAA. wheres the loyalty? Where's the loyalty of the owners? They have said many times that the Marlins will not leave S. Fla and now look. 633388 (1) May I ask what you're pissed off at ownership for? (2) Loyalty of the owners? They're in this business to make MONEY. With the attendance, lease, etc, Loria is LOSING money every year in Florida. If he think he has a better deal somewhere else, he's taking it. Do I think they'll move? NO- I think they'll get a stadium deal done. I don't think the state of Florida has shown much loyalty to the W.S. Champs- dragging their feet on the stadium and lots of people STILL not coming to the games.
December 13, 200421 yr Nope. I'd hop on the Rays wagon, become a full time Sawx fan, or give up baseball (maybe sports) all together. Probably the last of the three.
December 13, 200421 yr I would continue to follow for them for awhile, but would likely lose interest as the current players scattered. I would probably start to follow the D-Rays more in the AL, and go back to rooting for the Braves in the NL.
December 13, 200421 yr I would be, I am a Raiders fan and I dont live in California, so if they were to move I would have to spend my money on the Directv MLB package instead of season tickets, hey I do it for the Raiders so why not the Fish.

I understand your point about the business, but I wish they didn't have to go around telling the fans, "Oh don't worry. We're here to stay." Yet they turn around and do the opposite. I really hope they don't move and I think the stadium deal will get done too. About the fans.... I did my part. I don't know about everyone else.
December 13, 200421 yr the marlins moving wouldnt affect me much, since ill be going somewhere else for college and prob end up living outside of florida. id still catch them on tv and see them play any chance i get so yes, id still be a marlins fan the worst part about this is that loria and co. are getting blamed and being called traitors by some bc they want to leave sofla. thats b/s. they walked into the current lease on PPS, a stadium open to the elements, too far for fans from miami and not getting any support from broward/palm beach. if they cant get a stadium done, they HAVE to move, they dont have any choices. dont blame them for preparing for that
December 13, 200421 yr Maybe the problem becomes when they've said in the past they are 100% committed to baseball in Miami and making it work, but now when the going starts getting tough they decide to get up and get ready to move to Las Vegas. That's very trustworthy word you have there, Mr. Loria.

That's very trustworthy word you have there, Mr. Loria. 634124 They are committed, but the state doesn't seem to be. Othewise, we'd be talking about the stadium they are building RIGHT NOW. It's not STARTING to get tough to get a stadium, it's BEEN tough ever since the John Henry days. Seriously, this guy is hemhoragging money to keep this team in Florida, fighting to get a stadium that most people in Florida don't seem to care about. Yeah, what a bad guy.
December 13, 200421 yr You think they're serious about moving to Vegas? Hell, the mayor doesn't even seem to be.
December 14, 200421 yr i would probably follow the Rays, but i would never feel the same about any major league team like i do with the marlins. 633424 Ditto.... I dont think I will ever enjoy baseball as much as I did when the Marlins played :crying I would probably just sit and watch the games rather than pace and watch :lol ....when my mom heard this news she said it would break her heart if they left :crying I might become a casual Indians fan because when I go to Cleveland 2x a year I watch all the games and go to a few at the Jake! Maybe the Devil Rays too but just a casual fan :headscratch Hopefully all this will never happen and we go continue to have the Marlins in South Florida for many many years :thumbup
