December 14, 200421 yr let's not forget we also have easly. 634895 He's not an every day player. I think he is worth more for us coming off of the bench anyway because of all the different positions he can play if needed for a double switch or something like that. Plus if we start him as an everyday 2b we have no backup for 2b then.

December 14, 200421 yr If we trade Luis then we should also trade JP. If were gonna get rid of part of our 1-2 punch then we might as well get rid of the whole thing. 634858 That doesn't make any sense. That leaves us without a leadoff hitter- if we trade one, we still have a leadoff hitter in the other. Besides, I don't want to trade Castillo, AJ and the like for a 1-year rental in Hudson.
December 14, 200421 yr Everyone is getting way too ahead of themselves. I dont think it would be Castillo AND AJ for Hudson. Sorry - if we recognize that as overpaying, I am very sure that Beinfest does as well. Maybe just Castillo for Hudson - then what would you say? We have Wilson who could play 2B (what is the status of his injury, by the way). At this point this is all rumor and the Marlins are just listening to offers to figure out what is available. I wouldnt be surprised if they pulled off a deal if they made the other team swallow Enc's contract. And if they dont package Enc in a possible deal, maybe they really wanted him back.
December 14, 200421 yr How would it make any sense to have Burnett in any deal for Hudson? Hell, I think Burnett is going to have a Cy Young season... Makes no sense.
December 14, 200421 yr The Marlins talked to Beane about second baseman Luis Castillo, whose on-base percentage matches the A's philosophy. But his contract doesn't: He is owed $10 million over the next two years, with a $5.25 million option for'07 that can vest based on plate appearances. The Marlins also have pitcher A.J. Burnett, who is being sought by many teams and could become involved if negotiations become really tangled. Would Luis and AJ bring us Hud and a good prospect or Mecir?? 634838 Wow  And here I was considering AJ to be better than Hudson.
December 14, 200421 yr AJ for Hudson is the only deal that makes sense; Hudson is gonna be a rental since I highly doubt we'd be able to resign him. There is absolutely no point in trading Luis unless: a). we get some sort of good prospect also b). more importantly, resign Hudson much farther in advance than the off season.
December 14, 200421 yr lets be honest here, Tim Hudson is a much much better pitcher than Burnett 634939 but AJ has potential, and that is what a lot of people on here seem to care about. Unfulfilled potential or not. All I have to say to them: Ryan Leaf still has plenty of unfulfilled potential, maybe the Dolphins shoudl sign him. :hat
December 14, 200421 yr lets be honest here, Tim Hudson is a much much better pitcher than Burnett 634939 If we DO trade Burnett, I'd want to get a guy in return who's more than just a rental.
December 14, 200421 yr lets be honest here, Tim Hudson is a much much better pitcher than Burnett 634939 Can you say that with complete confidence after what A.J. did last season (minus his first 4 starts)?
December 14, 200421 yr lets be honest here, Tim Hudson is a much much better pitcher than Burnett 634939 Can you say that with complete confidence after what A.J. did last season (minus his first 4 starts)? 634966 Tim had 4 months with a sub 3 ERA within the month. He also pitches in the AL. Ignore 2 starts, on in Seattle and one in Boston where he let up 14 runs in 9 innings his ERA would be a lot better,

Everyone knows career wise their isn't really a pitcher under 30 better than Hudson. BUT, Burnett learned how to pitch. Complement that with the best stuff of any pitcher in baseball IMO, and you have one sick ass mother f***er on the mound.

I just disagree...
December 14, 200421 yr And though some might disagree.. Tim Hudson is on pace to put of Hall of Fame type numbers (and the guys at ESPN have mentioned this as well).. personally.. Id Trade Louie, Prospects (Since it never mentioned Loui AND AJ, only that its a scenario) for Hudson, only if the marlins have a full intention on resigning him.
December 15, 200421 yr Hudson is an better pitcher right now but i don't wanna trade castillo unless we have plans to lock up hudson long term
December 15, 200421 yr I'd just as soon not trade anyone. This franchise is like some kind of rotating door, in they come, out they go. It seems like Mike Lowell is the only person they don't want to spit back out. Let's try to keep somebody I recognize on the team. Thank you.
December 15, 200421 yr Oh yeah, let's just trade Pierre and all the players Juanky likes. 634839 :thumbup Seriously though, gobucks has a great point. The 1-2 don't help as much as we think. We'd be better suited with one, and a big bat for the middle of the lineup. In my opinion, we're talking about trading the wrong one. The other guy, the one with the intangibles and who is a fan favorite because he the exact opposite of Beckett and Burnett AND who is a free agent next winter AND in high demand, would get a better package back with minimal loss on the field of play. Damion Easley's stats: 2000 - .259/.350/.416 in 464 at bats 2001 - .250/.323/.376 in 585 at bats 2002 - .224/.307/.355 in 304 at bats 2003 - .187/.202/.262 in 107 at bats 2004 - .238/.331/.457 in 223 at bats Ugh. Barely a decent bench player. lets be honest here, Tim Hudson is a much much better pitcher than Burnett 634939 but AJ has potential, and that is what a lot of people on here seem to care about. December 15, 200421 yr I can see why, Beinfest is probably thinking since we have Pierre he can make up for it. I wouldnt trade Louie though, the top of our lineup is good. The bottom of the order after conine sucks.
