December 17, 200421 yr Check out Sun Sentinel online....looks like Alfonseca may NOT be a Marlin afterall. Problems with his physical. 637075 Deal for Alfonseca?s return to Marlins in jeopardy By Juan C. Rodriguez Staff Writer Posted December 17 2004 Antonio Alfonseca's return engagement with the Marlins may be on the verge of indefinite postponement. More than a week ago, the two sides agreed in principle on a two-year contract worth just under $5 million. That deal could be in jeopardy due to a problem with the results of Alfonseca's physical. Alfonseca, 32, underwent the examination Monday in Jupiter, but he wasn't immediately cleared. Contacted Wednesday morning, Juan Iglesias, Alfonseca's agent, said they were waiting on the results of one more test. Iglesias could not be reached Thursday and the Marlins would not comment on Alfonseca's status. As a member of the Braves last season, Alfonseca did not spend any time on the disabled list, but he was unavailable for the final game of the division series due to an elbow problem. Arm-related injuries have sent Alfonseca to the disabled list three times, the last coming in 1996 when he missed two months with a strained right shoulder. Alfonseca was sidelined twice in 1995 with right elbow strains. After the 2001 season, Alfonseca underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc. His back required regular maintenance throughout last season. It gets better and better for the Fish.
December 17, 200421 yr That would be the perfect offseason for the Fish but it won't happen despite the fact that the payroll won't be raised that much.
December 17, 200421 yr What's not to like? 637071 Not having AJ. 637333 ahh u gonna cry?
December 17, 200421 yr Itd be hard for me to do it, but I could see the Sox trading Nixon. Theo isnt in love with him, and you know what that means, he could be traded easily. BOS would also have to be sure that a deal for Burnett could be worked out long term. Trot is the longest tenured Sox, and that would also make him hard for John Henry to give up. But the lineup doesn't need more bats. Plus trading him means we could actually keep Millar and Mientkjldhskhfk as Millar could play (try to play at least) right. This would give Boston the chance to have a rotation of.... Schill Burnett Clement Wells Wake Id be sad, but id do it.
December 17, 200421 yr Trading AJ for Arroyo and Nixon and signing Perez would be awesome for the Marlins The Marlins last year were very very close to making the Wild Card and if we had the same team at the beginning of the year as we did in the end of the year we may have won the East. The Marlins arent far away and we can win with that lineup proposed, I hope it happens. I wish everyone would stop bickering its getting old. Doom and gloom attitude isnt the attitude to have, no wonder attendence sux you guys are representative to most people in S. Fla

December 17, 200421 yr I'd like to see the marlins do something like aj for weaver and choi or maybe aj for weaver and edwin.
