Worst Song and/or Album of Year

There are many things in music that are far worse than anything Good Charlotte has to offer. I don't think they are bad.

yeah i think theyre alright too. the one thing about them that people hate is how they dress and some of their lyrics, but their music is pretty good

I guess you didn't read my post.

My beef with Good Charlotte is that's what punk rock has become. We've gone down along way since The Clash were around.

That and they try to look all hardcore and then sing:

Girls don't like boys girls like cars and money...

Tools.

People need to let go of these images and stereotypes... If music has a good beat, I will listen to it. I have yet to find anything Hip-Hop that I like, but I have hope that one day I will.

I love rock.. I always have.. I happen to like Good Charlotte and bands like Simple Plan.. So people might call them pop/punk. Does that ruin your image that you may listen to something labeled pop?? Get over it... As for lyrics, they're just something I sing along to. If the beat is good, I will listen to it..

I find it so irritating to read someone analyze an album so in depth, when it all means sh**. A band tries to put an album together to entertain it's listeners. I don't buy an album to be intellectually stimulated...

As for The Used, I like them as well... I don't buy into this selling out crap. One of my good friends is in a rock band. They used to play "punk", but have recently gone a little more mainstream. Call them "selling out" if you like, but now they're getting the attention to go big time...

So much of music is lyrics, that is when you try to add lyrics.

Writing lyrics with meaning is a special gift that I find pretty important in the music I like.

I really really really hated that Britney Spears song...my perogative..or whatever..i dunno...i changed the station every single time it came on...uggh! :thumbdown

As do I.

That's why it's classic rock for me more often than not.

I can appreciate good lyrics, don't get me wrong. But it's not a determining point on whether I like a band or not. I don't need deep lyrics to appreciate a good song. I think it's harder to create a good beat, or a good sound, than writing lyrics.

Well, I'm more a lyric guy myself, I like seeing how different people portray the same message in contrasting styles. I love a good beat, but when I picked up guitar I ventured more to solos than to riffs :p . I just like the free-flowing creativity outside of riffs and beats that can get repetitive after a while. Of course, if done with talent, you can listen to the same 5 notes all day (the guitarist from Pink Floyd was the best at this IMO), but the chances of that coming along aren't too grand.

Simple Plan? Ewww, The name alone pisses me off. With such great songs like "I'm just a kid" (I might add the insanley deep lyrics of "and life is a nightmare") Shut the f*** up.

I swear, Sometimes I want to just decimate some people

In 10 years Simple Plan, Good Charolate, Jimmy Eat World and Yellow Card will be remembered as the Poison, Corey Hart and Right Said Fred of the new millenium. Seriously. You see alot of kids don't know who any of those are, and adults try to forget.

There teeny bopper songs with no depth and are annoying as they are repetetive.

The same can be said about 70% of Hip Hop. I just happen to not get annoyed by it. Lil Jon, Ciara, Pitbull, those are nearly the equivilant of the aformentioned "punk bands." Except however Lil Jon might be remembered or still around...

Eh, anyway.

Good Charolate sucks and you know it.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Does a song need to have "depth" to be a quality song? When I blast the music in my car on the way to work, I'm not looking for life's answers. I'm looking for a song with a good beat that I can sing along to. I think the majority of people think the same thing, which is why bands like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, and the world's best band Jimmy Eat World are so popular.

In the 80's, I loved the good 'ol hair bands. I loved (and still do actually) Dokken, Poison, White Lion, Cinderella, etc...

I must add that I just got a couple of CD's that I think are very good.. Keane and The Killers... Were you to ask me what their lyrics said, I couldn't tell ya.. But the songs kick arse.

Oh, add anything by Ashlee Simpson and "Solider" by Destiny's Child to this list.

I don't like "Over and Over" by Nelly and Tim McGraw. I wish Tim McGraw never agreed to work with Nelly.

Anything reggaeton... especially that annoying "Gasolina" song that whenever I am switching stations I hear it and I feel like smashing the radio.
