WTF are the Dodgers doing?

Featured Replies

san diego, cubs, cardinals, cinci, houston, the NL east

San Diego? Maybe if they stopped bitching about the park and actually started to hit, they'd have a good lineup, but still not as good as us.

The Cubs? Alou was their best player last year, and he's with us now.

Cards? last year they were slightly better than us, but there lineup is a little weaker while ours is vastly improved with the signing of Alou.

Cincinatti? That's a good one.

NL East? right. Montreal's lineup is pathetic. The Marlins are mediocre. Atlanta New York and Philly are above average, but not much better.

St. Louis is better.

So you don't think replacing Michael Tucker with Moises Alou in the lineup will score us at least 5 more runs?

This has been brought up before, but worth bringing up again:

2004 Statistics: Moises Alou -

Split AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS

Home 301 72 102 20 3 29 67 37 0 38 2 0 .339 .405 .714 1.120

Away 300 34 74 16 0 10 39 31 0 42 1 0 .247 .316 .400 .716

How about over the past three years:

By Breakdown AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS

Home 782 138 238 41 4 50 136 99 2 103 7 1 .304 .381 .559 .940

even if you guys were to get Delgado, we'd still be better at almost every position

Granted, Ill give you the Giants have a decent lineup, but any reason why you arent talking about your catching?

Matheny, last season (.247, 5 HR, 50 RBI, 23 BB, 83 K, .640 OPS (for those keeping score at home). Last three years: (.248, 16 HR, 132 RBI, .652 OPS)

He's very good defensively, but replacing this:

Pierzynski, last season (.272, 11 HR, 77 RBI, 19 BB, 27 K, .729 OPS)

Last three years: (.295, 28 HR, 200 RBI, .776 OPS).

1. many times players do better at their home field, regardless of what park they play in. Alou has always played better at home, whether he's played in Montreal, Florida, Houston, or Chicago

2. his lifetime stats at Pac Bell/ SBC

G ?AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS ?

3. That will be balanced out by batting next to the great one

when the rest of the lineup is so good, you can afford to have someone like Matheny, a great glove/ no bat catcher.

What about Alou replacing Tucker? What about Vizquel replacing Neifi Perez/ Deivi Cruz?

So is that kinda like taking a guy like David Eckstein, a good glove/no bat SS, and putting him in a lineup as good as StL?

I'll give you catcher and third, but that's it. Castillo can't hit, and Durham's one of the best in baseball. Grissom may be washed up, but he's definitely better than Pierre. Cabrera is gonna be really good, but right now Alou is better.

Dood I think you should be locked up in an insane aslyum.

Your homerism is incomprehinsible.

I'll agree I didnt think Durham had done so good last year so I'll give you that one but to say Castillo cant hit is insane, he did hit .291 with a .373OBP.

Cabrera and Alou were almost equal last year and I think its no doubt that Cabrera will continue to improve while Alou pretty much will stay the same or decline.

BTW Pierre had a better average and OPS than Grissom. So Pierre wins that one.

First of all, you can put Bonds and any other 7 players in baseball and we'd have a better lineup. But let's look at it by position:

1B. Giants (with or without Delgado. Snow had a .958 OPS last year. Delgado was .907.

CF. Push. Pierre's OPS was .008 points higher, and it's so close that one ab and it can change, than it's a push.

RF. Giants. Cabrera's still a few years away from superstar level. Alou still has another year or two left from superstar level.

And besides that, the gaps at the positions that the Giants are ahead are MUCH wider.

Castillo can't hit? WTF!

655334

.721 OPS, 21 XBH in 564 AB, .348 SLG, .057 IsoP

655341

Castillo IS the BEST hitter on the Marlins. This guy gets in an 0-2 most of the time and STILL gets on base. He can tell the difference between a ball and a strike to the inch. Ask any team would they would rather take and they'd say Luis...

1B. Giants (with or without Delgado. Snow had a .958 OPS last year. Delgado was .907.

655345

:lol

So I'm guessing you expect Snow to match that again this year. The guy with the career .791 OPS. Snow only played half the season last year any way.

different position.

Last year, Castillo was 15th out of 17 2B in OPS. Bottom Tier

Last year, Vizquel was 11th out of 22 SS in OPS, which makes him average.

Alou a year or two of superstar level? You are setting yourself up for a disappointment. He will be above average at best not superstar.

1B. Giants (with or without Delgado.? Snow had a .958 OPS last year.? Delgado was .907.
