Cabrera starring in Venezuelan league

Featured Replies

This kid is tearing it up. The numbers are unbelievable.... how is it possible to drive in 31 runs in 15 games? This should be reason alone for Delgado to play for us. Cabs will be on a different planet sometime soon. :notworthy

The Marlins' Miguel Cabrera is making the best of his winter vacation, having broken two Venezuelan winter league records by hitting eight home runs and driving in 31 runs during the first 15 games of the league's 16-game round-robin playoffs.

Cabrera, whose Aragua Tigers open defense of their league championship in the best-of-7 finals starting Friday against Caracas, broke a four-way tie for the home run record Tuesday when he smashed his seventh and eighth of the season.

He already had broken the RBI record of 22 earlier in the week. Cabrera is second in the league with a .448 batting average in 56 at-bats.

He better save some of those numbers for the season!

After the stadium, making sure Cabrera plays his entire career in Teal should be the single most important thing for the Marlins organization.

What better way to start a rich tradition than to be the uniform behind what will hopefully be one of the best hitters ever.

2005 Marlins MVP... Miguel Cabrera

2005 Marlins Most Improved Player... Juan Encarnacion

2005 Most disapponting player... none

this guy just gets better and better...he is going to put up some scary numbers this year...40+ hrs 130+ rbi's and about a 330avg.

We all know how good Cabrera is, but it makes me think about how good the Venezuelan Leagues are, do these numbers mean anything in the Majors?

Yeah, they do. THere are a lot of major leaguers playing in the Venezuelan winter league. Last year Cabrera hit about .330 down there. The Venezuelan winter league is probably like a low major league level or like slightly better than AAAA.

2005 Most disapponting player...

2005 most disappointing playerS: the 25 guys wearing mets uniforms

I hope he hits as good as he is now during the season. If he does, expect him to be in the race for MVP. And expect the marlins to be in the race for a playoff spot.

If he hits as good as he is hitting now during the upcoming season, I am going to have a very sore ass as a result of the pigs that will be flying out of it. :whistle

Cabrera is such a stud.

If we don't get Delgado, he certainly will be batting clean-up this year.

Just filling out a bit. :hat

I just hope he doesn't get TOO big. If he does, he won't be able to play left field. They'll have to move him to first (if Delgado is not there).
