February 12, 200521 yr Lets go back 2 yearsrs ago the fish are inm the playoff hunt they looper is doing ok but faltering the fish decide to trade with the Rangers for Ugie and in return the Rangers recieve the 1# overall pick of the 2001 draft and two other prospects. In hindsight this was a really good trade but if this guys is a hall of famer will you regret it a little bit. :banghead ?
February 12, 200521 yr We won the World Series. It's a move we had to make. And Adrian Gonzalez won't be much better than a Mark Grace... he won't be a hall of famer.

February 12, 200521 yr Hard to say whether Urbina was the difference, but considering his contribtions to the World Seris team and what has become because it, yeah it was worth it.

So far the trade has worked out great.

And Adrian Gonzalez won't be much better than a Mark Grace... he won't be a hall of famer. 683626[/snapback] Personally, I'd say Mark Grace was pretty damn good. The fact that we could have given them Stokes, gotten more from the Rangers because of it and still have Gonzalez, who is major-league ready, kinda sucks, but whatcha gonna do.
February 12, 200521 yr If you keep Gonzalez there's no Delgado. Predicting what could have been is useless anyway, it didn't happen.

February 12, 200521 yr Author The reason I said this is he has HOF potential and if he hits 500 HRs for texas I will regret the trade a bit

When Urbina was acquired he was supposed to be this stabilizing force to go with the unpredictable and shaky Looper. Urbina proved to be just as shaky through the remainder of the season and playoffs, but thanks to that great defense those hard shots off him turned into outs.
February 13, 200521 yr True. One reason there was no way Jack was going to take Beckett out of Game 6.
February 13, 200521 yr We traded three prospects to Texas for Urbina, but only Gonzalez has any chance to make an impact, and I don't believe it will be much of one, not when they already have so many infielders that are better than him.

February 13, 200521 yr The point of sports is winning the championship so we got it done. How can you second guess that?
February 13, 200521 yr Yes the fact that we needed Ugie makes it a good trade but... Why would you need three prospects including a First overall pick to get a solid closer on his leave year whos team was going no where as it was?? Why did Gonzalez need to be included in that deal?? It could have been worked out better, they had to give up Urbina and no one at the time was overing even close to that.

Once we outbid them, they traded with their crosstown rivals for -- ironies of all ironies -- Armando Benitez. Benitez didn't take to pitching in the pressure cooker of NY, and was awful for the Yanks. If memory serves, they didn't include him on their postseason roster...

His ERA for the Yanks was actually about 2... he did well for them.
