Dodgers are still going for Lowell too

The Link to the Article is broken but i could post a little bit of it....check it out

Los Angeles Times (Scroll Down) (registration required): "Evans already has made two moves, but he's still waiting on the team's No. 1 trade target: Florida Marlin third baseman Mike Lowell. The Marlins supposedly have taken the All-Star off the market, but the Dodgers are keeping close tabs on the situation. Pittsburgh Pirate outfielder Brian Giles is high on their list as well, but the Pirates' price is too high at the moment."

Was this necessary to post twice? Lowell isn't going anywhere, this is just disgruntled LA Dodger people trying to make the fans in Miami panic into thinking the management is trying to short change them. Nothing more.

No, they are going to sign him to a long term deal. Or have you just crawled out of a hole today?

Are you alright today? You have been acting Idiotic.

I heard they will sign him long term but the Didgers are really going for him so they may change their mind.

:lol

Why the hell would they change their mids? So they can be considered liars now in Florida, too and officially screw this franchise? No. They won't deal him...

The Dodgers got Burnitz and Henderson, that's enough for them.

They are in third place in the west, they still have alot to go.

I don't think the Dodgers are done dealing.

Dodgers + Lowell = NOT HAPPENING

What part of no don't they seem to understand...

What they are trying to do is set the fans against each other and against the FO, so he isn't a fan favorite anymore and the FO changes their minds. And it looks like they are turning some fans around, the only evidence you need is that this idiotic thread exists. Twice.

Lowell isn't going anywhere. The Front Office is moving to long term contracts this offseason.

They need to if they want to be a real, contending, in it every year team. A couple guys signed long-term would give some assurance to the fans and the media we're not messing around.

um whats so bad about a team watching another team?

given Loria's reputation anything is possible

so all of you need to chill out

For all we know he could sell off the team or increase payroll enough to keep them. We never know what he could pull from his hat.

Maybe the article took LA's interest out of context. My assumption is that LA is watching him very closely b/c they are going to make a serious run at getting him after the season, not because they think they can get him before the deadline.

I'm sure no one in baseball takes anything the Marlins say at face value. Why should they? We just have to have faith that the FO will be true to their word and build around Key players like Lowell

This Front Office (2002-Present) has done nothing to upset me, until they do, I will keep an open mind on them and support them.

Millar is the only questionable thing, but we got Redman, say what you will but Fenway Park helps Kevin alot and he still K's too much.

So Cape, you think signing all these players to one-year deals last off-season was the right thing to do?

So Cape, you think signing all these players to one-year deals last off-season was the right thing to do? Yes, look at the other side.

This group has been together for a good 4-5 years and has not done well. If we signed them long term and they underperformed we would have a problem.

If they performed well we could keep a few and build around them.

This season was a gamble and it has gone well, but the 1 year contracts are looking bad, but what if they were a horrible team? They wouldn't look so bad would they?

But the logic is flawed, Cape. If you follow this strategy you have high turnover every year, whether the team is good or not. What's the sense in that?

you only do it one season (this season) and you get the cream of the crop (Lowell, etc.) and sign them long term. Then you build around them.

So then...following your logic..... What if a good player has an off year? What if Lowell was hitting .250 right now. Heck, what if he was putting up numbers like last year instead? Then what do you do? Also, why is Sea Bass still here then?

And by the way, the FO never even hinted that this was a one year "trial period" for the players. According to them this was a way that they, as a low-payroll team, could afford players while incenting them to overperform. If you think this was some type of test year or anything other than a way to save some cash, you are way, way out there.
