Just received BBA's 2005 prospect guide. The fish ranked 14th overall in terms of overall minor league strength, dropping down from 8th overall last year. According to BBA our greatest depth is in LHP, CF and SS with a solid group of RHP also. The Marlin's chief weakness was a lack of hitters "who work counts and take every at bat seriously".

I thought it was interesting that Kensing was only considered the FIFTH best of last years 5 starters at Jupiter and Campusano has past Pierre and Reed as the fastest man in the organization ( 3.35 seconds from home to first on the bunt )

Wildcard - BBA wrote about Campusano, " Some believe he is every bit as fast as Double - A outfielder Eris Reed. In fact, some of the Gulf Coast League instructors had the two lined up for a match race in the outfield before a trainer called it off. Campusano has been timed at 3.35 seconds to first on a bunt from the left side. ( He switch hits ) He made 28 errors but showed a 75 arm that could be even better than Class A shortstop Robert Andino's. His arm isn't just strong, but accurate too."

 

It goes on to say that he is considered coachable with a good makeup. He is generally compared to Tony Fernandez or Alfredo Griffin, but he still has a long way to go.

Gracesqui's no longer in the organization. Had arm trouble and was released. Them's the breaks.

 

Odd seing Andino so high. Is this a tools thing or a byproduct the position he plays?

 

Where's Brad Davis? Had a good defensive reputation coming out of college. Hit .300 with plate discipline at Jamestown.

I thought Resop and Kensing would be a little higher. I also thought Brad Davis and Angel Molina would be on their. Especially over guys like Lincoln Holdzkom, Allen Baxter, and Ronald Belisario.

Surprising that Allison is even ranked, since he isn't playing or with the team.

How old is this list? Gracesqui is ranked 24th, yet he isn't even with the team anymore.
