yes that's who i meant.... :censored

Didnt you scout and sign him?

  • Author

no i've only signed 1 player....steve suarez who played at south miami high school...he's a catcher...we all know how bad they need 1

IMO he was a borderline HOFer anyway.

583 HRs and a 12 time all-star isnt borderline.

Stop hujacking the threads, guys. Not that I'm defending jrhemi (I'm not...look at my signature) but I figured at least when I came to the baseball forum we could talk baseball. I could tolerate the scout-bashing in the off-topic forum, but come on.

...please don't hate me now.

Anyway, it's quite obvious when McGwire got big. Especially if you're a baseball card collector, you can even see his weight go up. I notice the differences around his 1992 and 1993 cards. Well, look at his stats. McGwire had an unbelievable rookie year in 87, there's absolutely no doubting that, and you KNOW he didn't do it with steroids. Look at the pictures of him! He was a scrawny little kid.

He never had another season like that, pre-suspected-steroid use. In 1989-1991 he hit .231, .235, and .201, respectively. .201! And honestly, if you look at pictures, THAT'S the time when he started getting big.

He's admitted to taking androstenedione, even in 1998. Personally, even though I like McGwire, I wouldn't vote him in.

I hate Barry Bonds. I unconditionally hate him. I laughed when I saw his little press conference ("you, you, you, you, you") and laughed even louder when I saw it on the Daily Show with a slow violin playing in the background. But he's always been a teriffic player. I could go either way on him.

i agree with u in both things....if you got something to say to me PM me dont mess up the threads...keep baseball people...i wouldnt vote for Mac for doing what he did in the congress hearing but i would vote for Bonds cause he has been great since day 1

For a first basemen with below-average defensive skills in an era with Frank Thomas, Jeff Bagwell, Rafael Palmeiro and others at his position he's not a shoe-in.

The next few years will be very trying for the HOF selection committee, with stars at every position of the game. 'First Ballot Hall of Famers' won't have quite the same meaning.

Good, keep his cheating butt out of the Hall. Now we gotta find a way to convince these people to keep Bonds, the biggest cheater of them all, out.

It's becoming harder to be a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame, however, 500 HR's is still a shoe-in for the hall.

Is Raffy a lock? I don't think I'd put him in.

What if Dave Kingman had had another season under his belt and got to 500 homers?

Raffy only needs 78 hits for 3000. 3000 hits and 500 homeruns is a shoe-in.

He is 6th all time in homeruns. 6th.

Mark's got 140 jacks on Bagwell and 150 on Thomas.

He should be shoe in. This whole steroid thing is going to kill him but what people dont understand is that everyone is doing it. EVERYONE. you might not want to believe it but most people that are in the pros right now are on the juice and unless you want to not have anyone voted into the Hall for a long time then you have to vote him in because his numbers are deserving of the hall.

And you actually believe that Frank Thomas and Bagwell are both clean?

Come on.

Couldn't give a damn about any player being clean, but I think Bagwell and maybe even Raffy are there with McGwire, because of their greatness and consistency on offense and defense.

I think Palmeiro takes drugs to "enchance" his "performance", but I don't think he took steriods.

Your argument lost all validity with that statement. Especially on Frank, who was 6'6 260 in college as a tight end.

IMO he was a borderline HOFer anyway.

rferry strikes again.

LOL, what a ridiuclous statement, to say he was borderline is just plain absurd.

You must be joking.

McGwire was an absolute lock to be a first ballot hall of famer up until a few months ago.
