Posted April 10, 200520 yr In some respects, we got lucky tonight to even be in this game. Moehler got rocked and if he ahd pitched against the Cards or Cubs tonight, he gives up 4-5 homeruns easy. On paper he did very well but he got saved by spacious Pro Player and some mediocre hitters. Cabrera need to learn how to fight off those close pitches. Just foul it away. We dont need him striking out with the game on the line(9th inning, game on the line at the time). Nice to see Delgado finally go yard, I expect to see that alot this year. Livan Hernandez is a helluva pitcher. I know that aint exactly earth-shattering news but he had out hitter's fooled all night. Throwing 1st pitch strikes, changing speed, painting. It was beautiful to watch as a baseball fan, not for a Marlins fan. Not much to say about Alfonseca. He made a mistake and paid for it. It happens, Im sure he will move on. I would have liked to see Castillo instead of Aguila up there in the 9th but hey, what can you do?.... Also in regards to that, Paulie needs to be on 2nd base in the situation. I havent read the game thread so I dont know if he was berated or not, but at that time, it was key that he be on 2nd base. And I guess thats it
April 10, 200520 yr With Cabrera he looked at a nice pitch for strike 3. That has nothing to do with fighting anything off in that case. Paulie would of been thrown out at second, unless he had sprinted out of the box.

April 10, 200520 yr Paulie definitley got too excited and watched that hit the whole time. But something that the announcers said and something that is true is that he would have had to hustle it all the way through to make it. That throw from their LFer was really good. One thing that must have been said during the thread: We hit the ball hard tonight. Nearly everything went right to their players. It was sick. When Guillen started climbing the fence on the Delgado homer, I thought he was going to surge into the air and take it away. All in all, tough loss to take but not horrible. Like to see more offense but they were pretty unlucky tonight. Our losses are close and our wins are dominant and thats some solace to take.
April 10, 200520 yr I was at the game & when Lo Duca hit that shot in the 9th I didn't even follow the ball, I thought it was gone. I was celebrating already & just couldn't believe it. F_M is correct, the guys hit the ball pretty hard all night. Even in the bottom of the 10th with JP on 2nd, Easley smoked a ball to left but just right at the outfielder. Alfonseca just threw a gopher ball right down the middle to a guy you shouldn't do that to. The loss stings, but if Beckett can win tomorrow I'll feel better.
April 10, 200520 yr livan lives on the outside corner. the ump was giving him a wide outside strike zone. bad combo
April 10, 200520 yr No reason we can't win the next 4 games, with the best of our rotation making the tosses against Washington and Philly.
April 10, 200520 yr the ump wasn't on our side tonight thats for sure, that strike three to gonzo was absolutely horrible, below his knees. wow. he had a right to be pissed. quoting jack, it was an 'effing joke'
