April 16, 200521 yr Pitched a hell of a game today. For anyone who says they rather see moehler out there than leiter, today we saw the real leiter, the one that has been doing this sort of thing consistently for the last 7 years. (The bonus was that he went 7 innings)

April 16, 200521 yr Yeah very nice start. Kept the ball low and threw strikes considering the ump's strike zone was small. I really thought the Mets would get to him. Nice start for Al. Especially getting out of that inning with the Piazza DP.

April 17, 200521 yr 8 million for what he does on the field? Maybe. But Josh already said Al helped him focus alot better and that's been helping Josh out so far, just to help one of the aces become dominant consistently is worth the rest of the 8 mil, even more so if the others take notice.

April 22, 200521 yr in fairness, coming into today, his ERA was 2.55 and he was averaging just under 6 innings per start (3 starts, 17.2 IP). obviously today sucked but let's not push the panic button on al just yet.

April 22, 200521 yr Author Even though he got shelled last night, i still like leiter. Leiter the last 2 years has been all about control, when he has control hes unhittable. The problem yesterday was that he was coming in with fastballs b/c he couldnt get anything over the plate. Its funny actually b/c I've always analyzed ptichers who have control problems and a pitchers collapse always has to do with a the ump's strike zone Theres certain pitches that if the ump doesnt call for a particular guy, that guy is done. Happened to willis a lot last year, if the ump gave him that outside corner he likes to hit, willis did well, if he didnt then willis would lose his control and the game.
