Yes. And they added a very good cornerback in the draft, picked up a teriffic situational pass rusher, and shored up the only real soft spot in their defense at MLB. Will it be tops in the league? No. But it's going to be very good.

Those fans are just stupid. They have had plenty of opportunities and each time they find a way to screw it up. April 24, 200521 yr For those who care about the Bills (which is probably few), I'll give my quick opinions on their offseason. The Buffalo Bills have, thusfar, had a somewhat curious offseason. While releasing Drew Bledsoe may count as addition by subtraction, their other moves do not seem to add up. Failing to re-sign Pat Williams and neglecting to address the DT position in the draft is a move that I cannot understand at all. Ron Edwards and Tim Anderson are both complementary players at best and cannot be expected to replace the production from Big Pat. Not matching the obscene contract Jonas Jennings received from the 49ers was also the right move, but the replacements the Bills have signed for him aren't overly enamoring. Bennie Anderson might be able to play center, allowing Trey Teague to shift outside to left tackle. However, there is a reason Teague hasn't played much LT in the NFL - he simply isn't very good as a tackle. While Roscoe Parrish is a good player, the Bills had much bigger needs at their spot in the second round. Taking Babineaux or Adam Terry would have been smarter if they were drafting on need, but Tom Donahoe rarely does that and instead opts for the "best player available" mantra, hence his selecting a 3rd wideout and return specialist (for a team that had a Pro Bowl kick returner in Terrence McGee already) instead of a DT or OT, both of which were glaring needs. Kevin Everett was a solid pickup, especially considering the late season injuries to Mark Campbell and Tim Euhus. The latter half of the draft addressed some positional needs, but Donahoe's biggest move so far has been failing to jettison Travis Henry. Now he must count on a RB getting injured in camp and a team be willing to overpay, which is a somewhat risky proposition. While Donahoe's stubbornness has paid off in the past (Peerless Price for a no.1 to Atlanta a few years ago), it may have gotten the best of him this year. Overall Buffalo looks to be better on offense by having McGahee and Evans with another year of experience and shouldn't see any significant dropoff from Bledsoe to Losman. In fact, I'd expect Losman to outperform Bledsoe next year, but that's just my opinion. The defense has some aging players (Vincent, Adams, Fletcher) who will be one year older and could experience some dropoff in production, but the unit as a whole should again be very good. Special teams was one of the best in the NFL last year, and I see no reason why that should change, either. Buffalo really should have made the playoffs last year (Football Outsiders, a website similar to Baseball Prospectus, calculates that by their numbers Buffalo should have won between 11-12 games last year). However, I don't see it happening for them this year with their schedule and the improvement of the Dolphins and Jets possibly costing them a win or two. While the Bills could push 11-12 wins if everything breaks right for them, a repeat 9-7 season is much more likely, with the leap to a real AFC Title contender coming in 2006.

Their rookie RB Julius Jones is a special player. The only thing that I would be somewhat scared of is the maturation of the rookies on defense and the ability of Drew Bledsoe to to stay healthy and cut down on the sacks. Other than that, I think they'll be a very tough team. Just keep Rivera away from the treadmill.

April 24, 200521 yr Author I'd MUCH rather have Harrington than Eli going into this season, just because we have Garcia and McMahon competing for his job. Detroit is a better team than the G-Men, but it's close. The NFC as a whole is up in the air. Philly and Atlanta will be locks, everything else is unknown IMO.

That's alright, all the Dallas fans come out of the wood work now that their team may get above the .500 mark. The Eagles had a good draft...got a stud WR and a good DT. Moats is a lot like Westbrook so i don't get that pick but Andy Reid gets the benefit of the doubt as other then the Patriots, the eagles are the class of the NFL. And sure we havent won any titles as Dallas fans may say, but year after year we are there knocking on the door and none of you can deny that.
April 25, 200521 yr heh ... knowledgeable philly fans ... thanks man as for the topic of this discussion, i'll let you know my offseason thoughts on the hawks On offense they were able to keep everyone of note (Jones, Hass, Alexander, Tobeck, Womack, Mili & Gray) while signing pathon and Jurevicus. The offense finished 9th last year. If they can get any consistent performance out of Koren & DJ that should improve this year. On defense there was a lot of movement on a bad defense, most of it lateral for depth. They lost Chike Okeafor and replaced him with Bryce Fisher. They lost Ken Lucas and used that money to grab Andre Dyson & Kelly Herndon. They cut Anthony Simmons & signed Jamie Sharper. They released Chad Brown & will require a youngster to step into his spot. They also signed Chartric Darby and a couple other depth guys. Going into the draft they basically got rid of some attitude and injury concerns and had glaring needs to improve the pass rush and LB corp. They were unable to trade up for any of the top 3 DEs, so they traded down and grabbed Chris Spencer, who will be a beast of a center to take over for Tobeck in the coming years. Second round they grabbed Lofa Tatupu, who the staff seems to really love and should fill in the need for MLB (along with the rookie from last year). Third round had two picks, one seemed wasted on a QB who I really don't like (david greene) ... I would of rather of gotten Blackstock. The next pick was another LB who should add depth. 4th round they grabbed the OT willis out of Florida St. A big mean nasty guy. Should be in the competition for RT. Then they added depth at FB and Linebacker to finish out the draft If anyone can win the RT spot this year, the line will be very nasty for years to come with Jones, Hutchinson, Spencer, Womack & ?? (Willis..) The defense has more depth and 2 of the 3 LB positions filled with reliable players. The DT rotation will be the same as last years, players will need to stay healthy, step up and continue to improve (a lot of youth there). Still not sure where the pass rush will be. ST should be greatly improved.

You may have a better defense then us but your offense can't even touch ours. Favre is so much better then Eli they aren't even comparable. Green and Barber is a wash. But we have more depth at RB with Davenport and Fisher. William Henderson is the best Fullback in the world. Javon Walker is better then Plaxico Burress will ever dream of being. Driver, Ferguson and now Murphy (what a dumb pick in Round 2, still a good WR though, we needed defense though) are 4 better WR top to bottom then most teams in the NFL save Indianapolis and St. Louis have. Bubba Franks is a great blocker and hands are fine, but Shockey as much as I hate admitting it is better. But our OL is still one of the best. We lost Wahle and Rivera yes. But Adrian Klemm who will replace Wahle is fantastic and Grey Reugamer played good last year filling in for Mike Flanagan. Flanagan and Clifton are 2 of the 5 best Centers and Left Tackles in the entire NFL and Tauscher is right up there for best Right Tackle. NFC pecking order... 1. Minnesota 2. Philadelphia 3.
