Speaking of Padres... Rumored to be "pursuing" Giles and Kendall.

They've been "pursuing" him for a while now...

how sweet if we could work a three way deal that sends kendall to the padres and giles over here.............is that at all a possibility??? cause giles is the only guy i would for sure want replacing cabs in LF....maybe guillen too, but i dont think that is happening

I Doubt Giles would Waive his NTC to come here...

I think he already has said if he was traded to Florida he wouldnt waive it...

He's never said that...

And seeing that we're contending, I think he'd give a thought, a second glace at Florida. Why wouldn't you?

I just don't understand some guys.

You figure he's getting sick of playing for a poor team in Pittsburgh, so now maybe he'd be willing to accept a trade to a team that can win so here we go and it looks like he's going to..............

the Padres??? :banghead

I still think he'd accept a deal to Florida...

I heard it too...

The Marlins are really the only contender looking for an OFer...

Just a thought...

ahh contender, what a sweet word

If Giles would rather go to SD than here, he is just blind. The Padres have a long way to go to make it to our level - they have to beat out the Dodgers, D Backs and Giants first. We are in arguably one of the toughest divisions in baseball, but we have bona fide star pitchers on this team and a young nucleus to build around and win with. Giles should be thanking his lucky stars to leave Pitt to come here. But some guys are just retarded - I mean, look at his brother, Marcus. That guy is no genius either...

Anyway, I hope Giles does come here if we are going to make a deal. Otherwise, keep the team together and let everyone else sort out the trash that is left. Sanders, White...oooh. Guillen is a good possibility.

And Odom, if we are going to keep people next year, I would rather see Penny and Castillo gone from that group you mentioned. They can be easiliy replaced, Lee is much harder to replace than you think. That will take at least 2 years for Stokes to get here.

They've been "pursuing" him for a while now...

Enough time for this to happen?

Jul. 27 - Reports Sunday indicate the Padres and Pirates remain nearly $12 million apart as they discuss how to share the $42 million left on Kendall's deal and get the blockbuster deal sending the catcher and outfielder Brian Giles to San Diego. The Pirates reportedly are willing to eat as much as $10 million of Kendall's salary, but San Diego apparenly is asking them to eat more. Reports indicate Kendall, a southern California native, will have no problem waiving his no-trade clause.

If the deal does go through, the Tribune-Review reports the Pirates would get at least two players from a group that consists of outfielder Xavier Nady, third baseman Sean Burroughs and pitchers Jake Peavy and Oliver Perez. However, the Beaver County (Pa.) Times reports Padres GM Kevin Towers says he will not deal Peavy while Burroughs is believed to be all but untouchable. Nady and left-handed pitcher Perez, however, are available, and the paper says other names mentioned as possibilities are right-handers Ben Howard and Dennis Tankersley and infielder Ramon Vazquez.

i hate to be talking about the Padres and all but they are moving into a new park, they are gonna make a run at some big free agent pitchers(Colon and Millwood to start) they have a nice nucleus(Nevin, Vazquez, Klesko, Burroughs, Nady, Greene, Kotsay) and some solid young pitching(Perez, Peavy, Eaton, Lawrence) and some guy name Trevor Hoffman....

add Kendall and Giles, and that is pretty good looking team

Easily.

We can't forget, this team DID in fact win the National League title the year after us...

WTF is Harold Reynolds talking about? He did't even mention that Klesko has a no trade clause. Reynolds should stick to do what he does best in jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon. Let Gammons stick to the trade rumors.

He has a NTC to everyteam but each NL West Teams and the Braves

so if he was dealt their he would ahve to waive it i would think

I would want Giles in Florida, but i dont think it will happen

White and Guillen or even Miguel Cabrera would all do good in LF for us....
