did the thought jump into anyones head that 23 months ago a kid by the name of miguel cabrera hit the game winning home run against those devil rays..now fast forward here we are 2 years later and another one this one not a kid called up days ago wins the game in similar fashion?

hmm and we all know what happend in '03.

I find Dillion's homer to be more like a Mike Mordecai game winning homer than Miguel Cabrera. Besides Miggy's homer was a walk off homer.

To compare Joe Dillon and Miguel Cabrera is idiotic...situation is similar that's about it. Dillon will be a decent bench player, but thats probably all.

you're right, he's no cabrera -- but i wouldn't write off Dillon as a decent bench player just yet. You saw it first hand what kind of power he has -- he wouldn't be the first overaged rookie to take the baseball world by surpise.

i simply stated that in 2003 some magic helped the marlins and someone being called up to help the team and having the GW HR was similar

i love how this site likes to take things and make them look like something else.

Miggy's was in extra innings wasn't it?

Yes, the 10th.

Nobody is comparing Dillon to Cabrera. It's just wonderful to see Dillon enjoy early success after all difficulties he has endured to get back to where he is. It's an inspirational story that shows perserverance pays off.

Everyone said the same thing about Paul Lo Duca.

If Joe Dillon can be compared to anyone on the Marlins, it's Lo Duca. Comparing him to Cabrera is ridiculous though.

Are you trying to make a comparison between Cabrera and Dillion?

Cabrera> Dillion

And it's not even close.
