May 22, 200519 yr Wow. What surprises me is that he only gave up 2 ER. Smoltz threw almost 25 pitches per inning for almost 5 innings. When someone throws that many pitches you'd think that they'd allow a lot more earned runs...similar to Leiter. But he was only one out away from pitching 5 innings and only allowing 2 runs, which isn't such a bad outing.
May 22, 200519 yr Mark Prior pitched a 126 pitch complete game.. Cubs pen really is that bad I take it..

If he struck out every batter in the game, hed have to average 12 per inning at least. You can not justify that 14 pitches an inning is too much, Id say thats pretty damn efficient.
May 23, 200519 yr Mark Prior has a history of arm trouble? News to me.. 780514[/snapback] Unless the achilles is in the arm. :mischief2
May 23, 200519 yr Last year he was DL'd with an achilles injury which then spiraled into a "sore-arm" which climaxed with him being ambiguous about the extent of the injury to the arm (remember the Thommy John rumors?). He then started this year on the DL with elbow pain, again. Twice in two years constitutes an injury history, at least to me, sorry if you don't see it that way.
