OrlandoFish
This is great news! Betting site exchanges cash for exclusive branding By emily BetCris.com has confirmed that it has secured the Commerzbank in Germany to help finance the new Florida Marlins stadium. The Internet gambling hub has stipulated that the stadium be named BetCris stadium under the agreement. Recent reports indicated that the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County had until June 9th to revise financing plans for a new ballpark and that the state legislature refused to provide even partial funding. BetCris.com and their investors are prepared to fund the stadium in return for exclusive naming rights. 'The fact that two-time world champions are without a suitable stadium is shameful,' said Gary Thompson, marketing director for BetCris.com. 'There is more synergy here than you think, the Maloof Brothers showed that gambling and sports can mix, we're here to help reinforce the point and be part of America's favorite past time.' Las week, letters of intent were submitted to both MLB officials and Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria. This week, BetCris.com executives are seeking a time to meet with Loria and MLB officials to illustrate their liquidity and intention to move forward with all due speed. :lol Link

Admin
They need to add a prop bet for "Will MLB approve us" and set the odds on "Yes" to about 100,000 to 1.
CapeFish
The MLB-owned Expos had Golden Palace as a major sponsor for the last 3-4 years they were in Montreal. MLB won't allow slot machines, but as long as BetCris doesn't look for that I don't really see the issue.

Marlins2003
This is nothing more than a cheap PR move and ignores the fact that naming rights will fetch (and are worth) far more than their publicity seeking stunt touts. This is not a solution. They are using the Marlins for their own ego-driven purposes.

This a shameful exploitation of the Marlins stadium situation to get Betcris' name out in the market.

They were ready to sponsor the horse jockey Valenzuela until the upper horse racing management decided to cancel that deal. I want to see someone better with the name, but money is money. No serious company interested in naming rights would hire a PR to promote this. They are getting $1 million in publicity in the sports (gambling) world for the price of a few well-placed press releases !!! Don't be naive. CapeFish
I don't care for BetCRIS. I care for when FP&L, Cingular, Bellsouth, Bacardi, and all the other suitors lineup. I like the news that this sham of a company could get funding for it. That means the bank saw it as a good risk.

Quoted in an "article" by "Emily" (no last name) from a publication called "onlinecasinonews.com". I'm sorry, but this is not a reason to celebrate anything. If I posted something using just my first name on SoFlaFishnews.com would you all be running and cutting and pasting stuff from it (well, maybe CapeFish would). C'mon, you've all been taken HOOK, LINE, and SINKER!
