July 29, 200323 yr Cabs isnt hot, he is good. The thing I am comfortable with right now is that while Cabs is hot, Encarnacion is almost ice-cold. This will reverse, Encarnacion is due for an offensive tear. Cabs wont continue at this pace for the rest of the season, right? :confused Drew would be a huge asset to this offense. Put him at #2 or drop him down to 5/6. The guy has very good power and I think an ability to carry a team offensively. I think La Russa has not handled him well and Drew is looking to break out. Just a hunch... I'm still not convinced that Cabrera isn't just having a temporary offensive upswing. He just turned 20, and might not be of much use if we get to the Playoffs. I would feel more comfortable with an outfield of Encarnacion, Drew, and Pierre. Cabrera would still be extremely useful on the bench.

If you were my GM, my team would probably be the Mets... Cabrera is definately for real. He's the only one that touched the Splitter. Bautista made a mistake pitch, and Cabrera tokk full advantage. Same as the double. That's what great hitters do. I'm sold on Cabrera, but I wouldn't at all be mad at a deal for Drew...

It's really hard to judge what the right answer might be with this outfield. But I still think we need one more bat.

I just thought that I would add that Bo is a much better defensive player than most people think. I don't see Castillo that often so I an't compare their defensive abilities. However, a lot of Cardinal fans are of the opinion that Hart is as good defensively as Vina. I'm not sure that I agree with that, but it is a valid observation. I'm not trying to argue that Bo is as good as Castillo, but I also don't think he would be a bad replacement. For the record... I don't want Bo to leave the Cards.
