His hands in his pockets, his mouth closed, Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria stood in the first row behind the visitors' dugout Saturday night at RFK Stadium as 33,198 fans around him sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Loria wasn't in the mood to say much of anything, let alone sing, not while watching another sub-par performance from a Marlins' team that he put $65 million into with a goal of winning another World Series. "I have nothing to say. Not a word. Not after tonight," Loria said after a 7-3 loss to the Nationalsdropped the Marlins into a third-place tie with the New York Mets in the NL East.
