Posted June 19, 200519 yr Al Leiter's home ERA: 10.43 Al Leiter's road ERA: 2.89 While we all love to hate Al and make fun of him in jest, he is absolutely amazing on the road, there's no denying this, but at home he's the worst of the worst, while Valdez is the complete opposite, awesome at home but embarassing on the road. Once Valdez comes back, we should just platoon him and Al for the #5 slot, if one week a game falls on a road trip, let Al pitch, if it falls during a home game, let Valdez pitch.
June 19, 200519 yr i agree with you, depending upon a few things: if Al continues pitching well on the road, and if Ishmael comes back healthy and throwing well
June 19, 200519 yr Pitchers, especially starting pitchers, need to pitch more than once every ten days, which more or less is what you're suggesting. I understand what you're getting at but it would never work out for either guy. I suppose you could get them work in relief (a start, a relief appeareance, etc.) but in the end it's not going to be effective. Of course, that said, watch Jack do it and make it work. lol
June 19, 200519 yr Then we can start Bump for those Hurricane Games that we will have to play somewhere else this year....that way it is all even.

June 19, 200519 yr If Al would just pitch to contact in that big ballpark, he'd be good at home too. But ehh he's a stubborn vet, so I doubt that happens.
June 20, 200519 yr If Al would just pitch to contact in that big ballpark, he'd be good at home too. But ehh he's a stubborn vet, so I doubt that happens. 817446[/snapback] Nah. I think he pitches to try to get the opposing team to hit the ball. He's just all over the place. He can't stay in the strike zone, and so he walks a lot of batters, and puts the count in the batters favor constantly. And when you start off 1-0 most of the time, and when you go to counts like 2-1 and 3-1, then when the opposing team makes contact it's probably going to be for a hit. He's clearly trying to throw strikes. You see him constantly throwing balls and getting behind hitters that he clearly doesn't want too. He doesn't mean to be wild all the time, and I think he's just that way because he just plain and simply doesn't have it anymore. I hope he starts taking advantage of our pitching ballpark. If he doesn't feel good pitching there then he really shouldn't be on our team. We need him to pitch at home like he does on the road, and it's easier to pitch good at home then on the road. So hopefully he can turn things around, because he's pitching bad where he should be pitching good, and he's pitching good where he has permission to pitch bad.

I don't hate on you too much but come on. Don't summarize everything and look like your adding something. All it takes is a sentance or two to do that.

I made a few points which weren't made in the thread if I'm not mistaken....And sometimes people happen to share the same opinion anyways....
June 20, 200519 yr We could always create a human clone that combines the DNA of both of them...... :shifty
June 20, 200519 yr But it would be the ultimate mediocre player with guns and missiles and blster shield and s**t.
