June 30, 200521 yr Been checking AP sports, Marlins website and Google News, so far no confirmation that Beckett has been activated. Now it just might be that because of the lateness of last night's game and Dunlap and Wiley getting a little extra shuteye, or he hasn't been examined by their doctor yet, as I write this there's no news. It may be (conjecture on my part) they want to give Olsen one more start. They can always activate Josh tonight after the game.
June 30, 200521 yr I'd say let Olsen pitch tonight. If it goes well boot Reidling Rainbow (his new official name) and Josh take an extra week on the finger. Beckett should throw in Leiter's next spot and move him to the pen. If it goes badly send the kid down to work on his stuff in prep for September/Spring training
June 30, 200521 yr Unless they changed their minds last miunte, Josh will be activated sometime today. He was on the chart last night and Olsen was just sitting there.
June 30, 200521 yr lietter has had 4-5 good starts in a row now folks. why punch him to the pen when he is finally starting to put it together? Pitch him on the road trip he has 2. something era on the road.
June 30, 200521 yr Well there hasn't been any offical word but on www.flmarlins.com they list Josh as the starting pitcher tonight Take that for what it is worth

June 30, 200521 yr Read the quote from Becks at the bottom of my sig, if he wants that to be true, i's say pitch Olsen, but if he truly is OK, beckett is the better option..
June 30, 200521 yr I dunno i rather give the rookie the ball if Beckett is not 100%. But if Beckett is 100% i think hes the better option.

We wouldn't accept anything close to that from any other pitcher on our team. Hell, Nate Bump gets sent down for the unforgivable sin of being the third best reliever on our team and Bentz gets sent down without getting a real chance, yet that is putting it together?
June 30, 200521 yr Author Even if Beckett is 100% why not give the kid another start at home and Beckett can start tomorrow night, over the weekend or Monday in Milwaukee. The main reason behind my thinking is all the roster shuffling once Beckett comes back. But as long as we win tonight I don't care if Billy the Marlin pitches tonight.

June 30, 200521 yr alright his outing last night wasnt too good, but I seriously think he is getting better and he has a good road era. I would rather let the olsen kid get a start here though and give josh a bit more rest. Heck pitch the kid then beckett tomorrow it shifts everyone back 1 day to give them all a bit extra rest.
June 30, 200521 yr I would like to see Olsen go again today to see how he handles a better team than last start. It couldnt hurt beckett to rest a few more days.

June 30, 200521 yr Author Still nothing on the wires or Marlins website at 3:06pm. Boog retracted 790 saying Beckett starts. Not saying Beckett doesn't start, just no announcement on Olsen, Beckett or likely candidate to go down Chris Resop (last in, first out).
