Posted July 2, 200519 yr Even with Paul Lo Duca being rested, Josh Willingham was out of the starting lineup again today. Willingham has had one at-bat in seven games since his one start as a designated hitter and that came in extra innings. With the exception of his use of Damion Easley and Lenny Harris, manager Jack McKeon has done a poor job of keeping his bench players involved this season. Willingham would be better off in Triple-A. If the Marlins wanted a power hitter wasting away on the bench, they should have just kept Joe Dillon. Jul. 2 - 4:43 pm et rotoworld
July 2, 200519 yr Yeah, if we are going to be doing any trading of our outfielders, then I want to see the guys who will replace them get more playing time. We need to give Willingham some idea of what might be his main role on this team. I doubt he will ever catch for us.
July 3, 200519 yr they brought him up, we were all happy as can be but knew, he was going to play one game... and sit...
July 3, 200519 yr just to add, this is like benching derek lee right now.. IMO... 837579[/snapback]Â :drunks

July 3, 200519 yr Apparently Jack is only keeping him around in case we get into an extra inning game. :plain  How does Jack expect Willy to be ready when he needs him if he never plays? The kid is doing little more than warming up relievers and playing cards right now.

July 3, 200519 yr Anyone who thought that willingham was going to get a lot of playing time must have been fantasizing. Mckeon rarely uses his bench, Conine needs more ABs, hes been playing wel enough to get thme but hasnt. I think willy should go back to AAA, bring dillon for the bench, and let willingham fight for a starting job next year.

He must be exausted already. How can you expect him to play?
July 3, 200519 yr And catches the bullpen and learn from major leaguers. The intangibles! Maybe he can pick up a few funny stories and try them out at the local scout bar, befriend some, and get lucky with one of them at their organization.
