July 5, 200521 yr I don't remember seeing one off speed pitch from him tonight. After a few starts he's gonna be figured out and he has nothing in his back pocket to throw. What do you guys think?
July 5, 200521 yr I just think its the case of a rookie pitcher. Most pitchers that come into the league come in with a fast ball and 1 other pitch like a changeup or what not. Its going to be all part of the growing process. I think once Olsen realizes that pitchers are getting better at hitting his fastball, he'll work on adding more stuff and changing speeds. Sure hope he helps us big in the second half though.

July 5, 200521 yr Even if he doesn't have alot of pitches now, he does pretty well with what he has, and he'll definitely learn more and refine what he has down the road. Look at Dontrelle...everyone thought the league had figured him out, he's done ok.

July 5, 200521 yr Olsen has looked fine in his 2 starts and one relief appearance. He appears to have good mound presence and he appears to have a lot more than just a fastball. So far so good, in fact, very good. But the guy has pitched less than 20 innings in the majors. Let's give it some time.

You certainly were not watching the same Olsen as the rest of us, mabye you accidentally tuned into the Pirates game and caught Kevin Olsen pitching? :plain
