July 16, 200521 yr We should request that the "player to be named" be Sean Henn. It would add another lefty to our minor league system.
July 16, 200521 yr Yeah, 40 men guys can't be PTBNL Good that we got something out of him, and I hope he pitches a shutout tomorrow (for 7 innings, and then the Yank pen blows it).
July 16, 200521 yr Well that sucks...but if players on the 40 man roster cant be traded, how are players from the active roster traded?
July 16, 200521 yr Well that sucks...but if players on the 40 man roster cant be traded, how are players from the active roster traded? 858396 They aren't saying players on the 40-man roster can't be traded. Players on the 40-man roster can't be a player to be named later.
July 16, 200521 yr Well that sucks...but if players on the 40 man roster cant be traded, how are players from the active roster traded? 858396 you misunderstood.... players on the 40 man cannot be PTBNLs...
July 16, 200521 yr If we could trade him for a box of batting practice baseballs, it would be a steal. And not even a new box of practice baseballs, I'm talking middle of the road batting practice baseballs. 858020 i would of been willing to trade him for a box of donuts or something it's happened before
July 16, 200521 yr As bad as Leiter has pitched for us I wouldnt be the least bit suprised if he does ok with the Yankess if he gives 5inning 4 runs or 6 innings 5 runs with their offense he has a shot with us Al's 5 innings 4 runs is a guaranteed loss. Even if he does well i am not going to feel as if the Marlins made a mistake in letting him go because it wasnt going work out with the Marlins this season
July 17, 200521 yr Doesn't look like you'll get a PTBNL at all. From RotoWorld- "The Yankees' press release says there's a player to be named involved, but GM Brian Cashman is saying it's a straight cash transaction. The Yankees are expected to pay $400,000 of the $2.8 million Leiter is owed over the rest of the year. Leiter was added to the 25-man roster and will start tomorrow against the Red Sox. It's pretty hard to like his chances of helping the Yankees, but he's probably a better choice than Darrell May, Tim Redding or Aaron Small. The Bombers still need to have some interest in Shawn Chacon. Jul. 16 - 6:33 pm et" Cashman says there is no PTBNL, and that the Yankees will only be paying 400K on Al. I think Ill trust the guy who brokered the deal. Just thought I'd give you the update.
July 17, 200521 yr No biggie, I'd rather 400 G's than 0 858876 Of course, it wasn't going to work out for Al there. If he can give the Yankees anything at all it'll be good. It works out for both sides.
July 17, 200521 yr For the record, SI.com's transaction page says Leiter was traded for a player to be named AND cash considerations.
July 17, 200521 yr Yes, thats what the rotoworld article says too. I guess you didn't read it. If you did you would know that it says that the GM who brokered the trade tells it differently then the press release. In which case, Id believe the GM who brokered the trade. Im sure SI.com is copying the press release.

I don't see anywhere in the article Rotoworld saying PTBN AND cash.
