July 25, 200520 yr With D-Train's second half woes appearing again and the possibility ::knocks on wood:: of Josh getting reinjured is it plausible that the FO is thinking about holding on to AJ in order to keep the rotation as solid as possible to make a run at the division/wildcard? If so is it worth it to keep AJ or do we get what we can now? What does everyone think?
July 25, 200520 yr I think we should only give AJ away if we get something valuable in return. I would have only pulled the trigger on the Baltimore deal if we got Daniel Cabrera in return. He is a young, talented, cheap pitcher. We need a young gun that is going to help us in the future. None of the offers right are going to significantly help us in the future and they are not worth us giving away AJ. I say we only trade him close to the deadline IF we look completely out of it and there is no shot of us making the playoffs. If we are close, I say keep him and lets give it all we got. I seriously think that if we are able to make it to the playoffs, its just us and the Cardinals for the NL crown.... and with a three man rotation of Beckett, Burnett, and Willis... i really like our chances... The second we trade AJ... we are putting up the white flag...
July 25, 200520 yr I also think that we need to keep AJ, unless a trade comes along that will knock our socks off. As far as Willis is concerned (I know Ill get killed for this), but I would take what Willis will potentially make next season, and offer AJ a monster contract, and then trade...Willis. Strike while the iron is hot. Willis is a great pitcher, and I think he is one of the most marketable players in the league, but AJ just has stuff that few pitchers in the league have. I love Willis a lot and hope he stays with us for a long time. But if I had a choice, I would go with keeping AJ over him.
July 25, 200520 yr i wanna keep aj right now too cuz none these offers sound good....... every1 wnaats a pitcher with aj's potenial so why the f*** should we give em up????? keepin em is way better also wanna keep lowell who seems to have found his swing, as 4 willis the man wont be as dominating as he was in the 1st half but should and will be a 500 pitcher rest the way...... and i really have no problems with that...... glass beckett AJ D-train Moller Valdez with Olsen,Vargas,Mota,Mecier,Alfonsecia and Jones in the pen we can be dominating........

July 25, 200520 yr he's off to a good start in the second half and on top of that he hits a homerun to help himself.... Plus dontrell is struglin right... SO PLEASE DON'T TRADE AJ!!!!!!

July 25, 200520 yr It is funny because I just wrote a blog about this very same thing. I say "stand pat" on AJ and Lowell and even Jack and Robinson. I know the latter two may be more enraging, but when a team starts to win, you dont want to change thigns around on ANY level. The Marlins have the talent and with AJ they have a better chance to win. Nothing they are getting in return will equal AJ's talent. And even with Lowell gone, that only opens up a hole in the OF (sure, we could stick Conine out in LF in the meantime, even call up Hermida). The problem is, anyone we stick out in LF can not match Lowell's #'s of previous seasons. Not at the moment. And even if Lowell continues to struggle we still have a chance. But he is just tooooo good of a hitter to hit .230 all season. And he is coming around - hitting .320 with 1 HR and 7 RBIs over his last 7 games. No coincedence that we are winning more often, too.
July 25, 200520 yr Thats the main reason i wanted to keep Burnett, We Dontrelle's struggling starts and Burnett pitching awesome he might be able to make up for Dontrelle.
