REPORTER VOWS TO 'KILL SELF' IF CHENEY RUNS FOR PRESIDENT

Thu Jul 28 2005 15:32:13 ET

Veteran wire reporter Helen Thomas is vowing to 'kill herself' if Dick Cheney announces he is running for president.

The newspaper HILL first reported the startling claim on Thursday.

"The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I'll kill myself," she told the HILL. "All we need is one more liar."

Thomas added, "I think he'd like to run, but it would be a sad day for the country if he does."

.....I hope he runs :thumbup .

"All we need is one more liar."

All politicians lie! There is not a day that goes by where politicians of all sorts don't tell some sort of lie. How silly of her. He better not run for president though. He'd get about 5 votes... maybe 6.

Bill Clinton never lied. :plain

I personally dont want Cheney to run cause I dont think he will get elected but just cause this dumb broad said she would kill her self if he ran, I would love to see him run.

If Thomas would actually go through with it than let me be the first to sign a petition to draft Cheyney , she is a waste of space even as far as journalist go she is an old bitter lady who is in love with her percieved importance and hasnt done one thing of note in her life .....Onto Dick , he would lose if he ran but say what you want about him , he is a brilliant debater he made Edwards who is a good speaker look like a kid who just got spanked by his daddy

He should run as an independent just so we can see if she kills herself.

Cheney would possibly make myself consider suicide as well if that is the best candidate the GOP could come up with in 08.

I dont think that Cheney will be around for the last two years of this term, let alone throw his hat into the Presidential race.

Let reporter kill herself. Not a big hit on society.

Oh and personally I'd vote for Cheney over Mark Warner. But I'd probably vote Mark Warner over everyone else.

Cheney has far too many health problems to run for president. But besides that, the idea is absurd anyway. He'd never come close to getting elected. McCain probably is the best chance the Republicans have of keeping someone in office.

Either way, I think Helen is just exaggerating,

Bingo

Oh and personally I'd vote for Cheney over Mark Warner. But I'd probably vote Mark Warner over everyone else.

In the sense that you just like Cheney or that you dont like Warner but would still prefer him to anyone else?

Whats the rest of the state's opinion of Warner outside of democrats in the state? Think he would have a problem winning VA the way Gore didnt win Tennessee?

He's moderate enough that a Republican who does his homework should have no problem backing him. He's also liberal enough to keep the Democratic support. I like him.

I don't know about the rest of the republican voters.

Don't kid yourself. If he's got an ® next to his name, 50% of the people will vote for him and 50% won't vote for him regardless of how sensible he really is.

He's moderate enough that a Republican who does his homework should have no problem backing him.? He's also liberal enough to keep the Democratic support.? I like him.?

Although your point is still valid, Id point out that he is a democrat. You dont think a popular candidate on either side could trump that 50/50 call? I could see McCain doing it.

:lol @ Fritz assuming that I'm talking favorably about a Republican.

F_M, like I said, us Virginians that have done any homework know how Mark Warner works - if he were to run at a national politics level, I'm positive that most of the nation would see it as I do as well.

Yeah but how many people do their homework? :mischief

I hope Warner runs. I really prefer him to Hillary. I think his only weakness is that he doesn't come off as that great a speaker. He is doing a lot of speaking tours to improve that. I think he could be really surprising. He could have the genuiness to accomplish a lot.

I prefer him over 99 percent of the Democrats. And yeah you have a point, he has a small lisp, but he's a good looking young guy, a lot like John Edwards - maybe he'd be a good VP candidate?
