Ok:

Mutts get:

OF Manny Ramirez

RHP Danys Baez

BoSawx get:

OF Mike Cameron

1b/dh/of Aubrey Huff

D-Rays get:

RHP-Anibal Sanchez

RHP Y. Petit

C Kelly Shoppach

OF Lastings Milledge

Big trade, luckily, from what ESPNews is saying, wont happen because the Sawx dont want to give up 2 prospects AND Ramirez for what they are recieving. So maybe we DO have a chance to get him :thumbup :D :mischief2

it said on ESPNews that the red sox want another prospect from the mets and the mets didnt budge so i think you might say the deal could be dead

they still have more than 48 hours to get it done. I wouldn't say it is dead yet

A proposed three-team deal involving the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Tampa Bay Devil Rays "hit a roadblock" Friday night, according to a baseball official familiar with the discussions.

Manny Ramirez

Ramirez

The deal proposed would have sent unhappy Boston slugger Manny Ramirez and Tampa Bay closer Danys Baez to the Mets, with the Red Sox acquiring outfielder/designated hitter Aubrey Huff and outfielder Mike Cameron, and the Devil Rays getting two prospects apiece from the Mets and Red Sox.

But with a 4 p.m. ET deadline looming Sunday, it could be too late to finish the blockbuster on time.

"I don't know if it's completely dead," said an official of one of the three teams. "But it's hit a roadblock ? unless someone has some other thoughts."

A source said the Red Sox felt they could not go ahead with trading Ramirez and two prime prospects -- reportedly catcher Kelly Shoppach and right-hander Anibal Sanchez -- if all they were receiving was New York's Cameron and Tampa Bay's Huff. So they went back to the Mets "for more pieces," the source reported. At that point, the Mets "squashed the whole thing" and talks broke off.

A baseball man with knowledge of the discussions said the Red Sox asked the Mets for a "key player," whom the Mets felt they couldn't trade.

An official of another club that spoke with the Mets on Friday night said the Mets also had reservations about going ahead with the deal because they would have had to assume all $64 million of Ramirez's contract, and that would have put them both over budget and over the luxury-tax threshhold.

What's uncertain now is whether the deal can be revived, or even whether any portion of it can be revived. The Mets had been talking separately to the Devil Rays about Baez, and the Red Sox had been talking with Tampa Bay about Huff. Then on Friday afternoon, the teams made an attempt to connect the two trades. The Devil Rays were described by sources as being ecstatic about the prospects they would have received -- the Mets were prepared to include right-hander Yusmeiro Petit and outfielder Lastings Milledge -- so they're expected to keep pressing the Mets and Red Sox to put the pieces back together.

But if those efforts take all weekend, "by that time the deadline will be over," said an official of one of the three teams. And that might leave all three clubs empty-handed at the deadline. So the most likely scenario now is that the teams make one more effort Saturday to see if there's another combination that works. And if not, they would be forced to move on to Plan B.

Ya know I really wonder about the Mets... I have always considered the Mets the team that good players go to die. A whole bunch of overpriced players go there and don't have very good years, for some reason I just don't see Manny doing nearly as well with the Mets then I do with him with the Sox.

horrible trade for Boston

Manny and 2 of their best prospects for a couple of decent major leaguers

We could offer something a lot better

I think Tampa come out like bandits in this trade. Although I l really don't know what they are doing. Milledge, Gomes, Gathright, Dukes, Young, Baldelli, Crawford, etc where are all these guys gonna play? they also never seem to trade prospects in order to get better so I don' know. They are getting big time talent for Huff and Baez(who I feel is overrated)

Well with the way we have treated the Red Sox in the Burnett trade talks we will probably have to overspend dirty style in order to acquire Ramirez. I bet they demand Hermida, Allison, Olsen. Some of you think think cause of there history with us they had to give up more for Burnett than what they should have well I bet there fans and FO feels the same way.

Well it looks like the deal is dead :D I still dont think we will get him, we would have to give up alot. First we would have to trade Lowell and have someone take a large(or complete portion) of his contract. Then Boston would have to foot the bill for at least half of Mannys, basically using up all the money we got back from Lowell. As far as players involved, it didn't seem like Boston was getting all that much back in the initial reported trade...my guess is the team that would take Lowell would send a player to Boston as well as us likely giving up Encarnacion. A 3 way trade is the only way to go.

You must be pissed Todd that the Mets arent getting Man-Ram.

Actually if you had read I was happy the trade fell through, now we(as in fans of the Florida Marlins) are going to be lead to speculate that we have a chance at landing Manny, ever so small a chance as it is. Add this to the way we have played as of late, you know the prospect of adding prob the 2nd best hitter in the game behind Pujols to be battery mates with Delgado and Cabrera makes me happy. For the last time, I am not in any way, shape, or form, a Mets fan. I have to think real hard just to name their normal starting lineup and rotation, and after Looper and Heilman, I draw a blank on their bullpen.

And they will take on his contract...that is big...

id like a Manny for Burnett, Hermida/or Olson and Lowell

Are you serious?

How do you replace any of the offensive production you are losing with that deal?

What a stupid trade for Boston. I can't imagine Theo would pull the trigger on this deal.

879980[/snapback]

I agree that this would never be the final pieces for Theo to pull this deal.

However, I do think that Huff and Cameron along with a good prospect or two along with the money that moving Manny would free up, would be good in the long term.

Good for this year? No.

The off-season? Yes.

Yes the guys serious and so am I.

What offensive production? Hermida is in the minors with the Mudcats, and we wouldn't be losing anything with Lowell gone except for his defense.

I think he's talking about what the Red Sox loss, not us.

And honestly why would we go after Manny, it just makes little to no sense. Yes we could but he just doesn't seem like the type a player we'd want on our roster.

Plus I really doubt he want's to come down here one bit, anyone know if he's got some kind of no trade clause or something.
