No "significant" changes expected (as per FO.) Cool.

Wouldn't mind seeing a middle reliever (good for 3 innings), e.g. Villone.

But, I don't want to give up any of our attractive prospects.

And I'm hoping Eric Reed's rib injury takes him off the trading bloc.

I'll stand pat with the hand we're holding. And double the bet.

Relying on this forum to post any last-minute updates (in Rumor Central or as confirmed, accordingly.)

Morale will be going up! And that equals runs and gritty playing.

Villone would be nice except for the part that the Mariners wanted Olsen and Vargas

It's not like we'd get anything for him anyway.

You mean there's no market for guys with no power, no strikezone judgement, and that hit around .270?

For anyone suggesting sticking with the current cast, or core, will help morale would have to believe in all of the following:

A. Burnett and Lowell are respected well liked members of the clubhouse* (we don't really know, and if relying on newspaper quotes you'd have to ignore Lowell's comments last year in which he wasn't very supportive of his teammates)

B. There will to no feelings towards the front office and management that might distract them from the what is happening on the field (if A is true, how likely could B?)

and C. This team can overcome the present deficit as constructed.

SOme of which I doubt.

I think we've already got a lefty middle reliever who can pitch 3 innings. His name is Jason Vargas. But yeah, we know we've got a talented team and they've been playing well lately. Stay the course! :thumbup

I think it's great for you guys that Beinfest doesn't appear ready to rock the boat and make huge changes. You guys are right in it as you have won 4 straight series and with pitchers like Willis-Beckett-Burnett, an offence that has a great 1-2 punch in Delgado and Cabrera and a solid closer in Jones, the Marlins could very well win the WC.

Eric Reed is supposed to be the next Scott Podsednik.

I know what he's supposed to be, but he sure seems to be regressing.

Villone is the right acquisition. We gave up a couple of future arms. We did it for the 2005 run!

I double the bet as I said I would.

He likes to say things that scare people. He did one on AJ like that once.
