August 1, 200521 yr screw a poll, I want to see reasong behind some picks Im going to go with the Devil Rays could have had atleast Brandon McCarthy and Damaso Marte for Aubrey Huff as well as Yusmeiro Petit for Danys Baez and I wont even get into the Boston-New York- TB debacle
August 1, 200521 yr Either them (for the above stated reasons) or the Orioles. The Orioles had plenty of time to make some sort of trade, even had one sitting on Angelos' desk waiting for approval. Just didn't get it done because Peter Angelos blows as well as the whole front office of that organization.
August 1, 200521 yr Posted it in the winners but easily the fans. Their's a bunch of teams who should have been sellers but overall no clear losers.
August 1, 200521 yr the Cards and White Sox just gotta get/stay healthy. The Devil Rays clearly lost the most. They had prime oppurtunities to get good prospects and they didnt. With what they have now they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and now they delay the process another year. The Orioles needed to do something since theyre falling horribly and the didnt, as well as any team in the NL West, and maybe the Twins. I would have loved to see the BJs do something to try to make a run at the Yanks/As/Red Sox, but Im not dumb enough to expect it.
August 1, 200521 yr I know the Red Sox didnt give up much but Jose Cruz Jr sucks and is just wasted salary on an already high payroll team that had a lot of other needs.
August 1, 200521 yr Orioles- They had a chance to reinvigorate that team with a front of the rotation guy for a few crappy players. But they got greedy and wouldn't take on Mike Lowell's contract. The team is sinking now. Mets- Yet again they disappoint their fans in failing to bring in a superstar player (whether it be Soriano or Manny) that could make a huge difference down the stretch. Devil Rays- failed to sell off players for their future (if they even have one). Other teams: Reds, Padres, Rangers and White Sox.
August 1, 200521 yr You really can't expect the Mets to get a great player at every deadline..It's not their fault that Manny went on and off the trading block.
August 1, 200521 yr I know the Red Sox didnt give up much but Jose Cruz Jr sucks and is just wasted salary on an already high payroll team that had a lot of other needs. 882922 We gave up basically nothing and he is a free agent after this year. We need a late inning above average glove, especially with Trot out for what seems like a while. He can stroke the long ball and gets Adam Stern the hell out of the 25 man roster. I dont think that makes us losers.
August 1, 200521 yr Cardinals and White Sox should have added. 882910 Eh, although I would have loved to add an outfielder with the injuries we have the minor leaguers that are up are playing pretty well for us. There wasnt an "impact outfielder" that the Cardinals were looking for really that would fit here. Then again Walt and the Cardinals usually make moves after the trade deadline and I'm certain they will again this year.
August 1, 200521 yr Orioles. They're in free-fall, need help in 20 different ways and did nothing. Since when is the O's owner Angelos one to shy away from spending some money? Picking up Burnett (and obviously Lowell) would have been a great shot in the arm for the O's and they did nothing.
August 1, 200521 yr I don't know how you can classify the Mets losers for turning down a deal where they deal their 2 best prospects, starting right fielder, and take on 20 mil a year over the next 3 seasons. Red Sox were asking too much from the Mets. And Soriano is the most overrated player in the league, he's s*** outside arlington. The best thing the Mets could have done with the demands that were made would be to stand pat.
August 1, 200521 yr Three big losers: D-Rays Rockies Reds. All three teams could have been big sellers, but instead held their pieces. Dealing Baez, Huff, Fuentes, Dunn and Griffey/Casey could have gone a long way to reshaping those teams for the future, but instead they'll end up getting little to no return for guys who don't figure very well into the 4-year-plans anyway.
August 1, 200521 yr Cincinnati is making a very strong push to overtake Tampa's reigning "Worst Run Franchise Ever" tag. This would be a major upset, as the D-Rays have held it for 7 straight seasons. I have full faith in the Reds management and fully expect them to take this title in due time.
August 1, 200521 yr I think the Mets are winners only because they didn't do some of the ridiculous trades that were rumored on their part.
August 1, 200521 yr All of the teams that should have sold off parts in a seller's market in order to improve their futures but inexplicably didn't. I'd include the Reds, Royals, Devil Rays, and Pirates here.

He was great as a Yankee and was good enough to be traded for A-Rod, arguably the best player in the game (especially at the time of the trade).
August 1, 200521 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?statsId=6154 Look at the spilts ... specifically HRs, RBI, BA, and OPS. Astoundingly huge difference at home and on the road.

Soriano has more HR's, more RBI's, and more SB's.

They're aren't spectacular, but they're getting the job done. Screw Matsui, he's done for the season in all likely hoos and probably will be non-tendered or traded. As far as I'm concerned he's a none factor in the 2B equation.
August 1, 200521 yr Posted it in the winners but (the losers are) easily the fans. 882908 Only the fans who need a big trade to be excited. I sort of like how all the big names stay put for once, way too much player movement in baseball nowadays.
August 1, 200521 yr i blame it on the grimsley for bautista and kazmir for zambrano deals.. these teams are asking for too much, because teams have given away talent such as in the trades i have mentioned
