Chris Carpenter

Look, this is really pointless.

Carpenter is a good to very good pitcher with a great to pontentially amazing offense behind him. Couple that with solid infield defense and above average outfield defense and you have yourself a great pitcher.

The environment in St. Louis breeds great pitching; simple as that.

look the cardinals fans are generally a good group. Just are most fan bases ( Except stinking jets, patriots, bills, mets, phillies, nationals, braves, cubs fans).

But seriously, they are good folks over all out there for every fanbase. Then there are a few that are terrible and jerks to all other fans too.

Now that being said, I think willis and Carpenter are both up and coming pitchers. Tonights game should be great and I wish I was there. Gonna watch it though every moment :)

You'll notice I explained myself. The Cardinals fans in my area are complete and utter morons, and alot of them I encounter at Busch are the same way(one guy poured a beer on my head when I was 9 because I was wearing a Marlins hat) and it makes me overly critical of the fanbase. I have no problem with the knowledgeable ones.

Takes one moron to know another.....You really shouldn't talk considering you can't spell any of the Marlins pitchers and repeatedly propose deals that a computer game wouldn't even do. Your a poor representation of a Marlins fan.

Well the Cardinals fans where I live are morons, but generally I get along with them for the most part. I am not a met fan, and it's nice to see you correct me on how to spell Philly, and you seemed to get a tad testy about it too. And, actually, your the only person whos called me being a fan of the fish into question, and besides the email address, what else do you have to go on? Is it the fact I have never talked about the Mets? Or how I constantly say AJ Burnett is my favorite player? You have no leg to stand on kid, now go grab yourself a cheesesteak and watch your hero Jim Thome.

You started this little war of words "tough guy". And I am sorry, I dont think this was a ridiculous topic, I was asking if people thought Carpenter was for real or if they think he is overachieving. I did it in the MLB forum, where it is supposed to go. I am not that hard to get along with, as long as you dont falsely accuse me of being something I'm not, i.e. a Mets fan. I say call truce. No sense bashing back and forth.

Wow, another good thread ruined by the senseless bitching of FishFan and Hot Rod. Good job!

And in my opinion pertaining to the thread. I think Carpenter will never match this season again, but he will continue to be a consistent 15-16 game winner throughout the rest of his career.

How far do you think he is playing above his ability level? I say EXTREMELY far. And if so, do you think he is having a career year, and do you think he will be able to replicate his success this season again?(this stems from a conversation I had with Cardinals fans who say what Carpenter has done this season is expected, and if he had done any less it wouldn't of been normal, and he is actually pitching BELOW his ability level...then they said he will show the D-Train how to pitch Tuesday and it made me mad)

He showed you tonight that he is a quality pitcher.

I get to see Carpenter all the time, living in the St. Louis area, and while he may be a good pitcher...theres no reason he should be having the kind of season he is having. And yes I do think this is a career year never to be replicated.

Carpenter wasnt that bad last year either. 15-5 with a 3.46 ERA and his injury happened (Which coulda been expected). Of course he's pitching a lot better this year but he was our best pitcher last year aswell.

So, kiddies, have we still not learned anything from threads of this nature?

"How's Olsen going to pitch tonight."

"Carpenter is coming back down to earth."

I wouldn't do that, I rarely bash Morris...except the Jesus beard he is sporting. I actually defended him the other day.
