August 23, 200520 yr So, you?d hope that for their first year of exclusivity, EA would bust out a classic title. A Madden for the ages. Erm, apparently not. A goodly chunk of average reviews, reports on message boards that in both solo and online, you can tell what play is going to be used. Reports from hardcore fans that really, it?s got a new passing method, and a roster update. Other than that, it?s Madden ?05. In short, it?s looking like EA didn?t even wait a year or two before kicking back, putting their feet up, and saying ?Screw it?. All hail our new football overlords. Rest of the Article
August 23, 200520 yr I prefer NCAA over this title. The Superstar mode is cool though, I dont own the game, so I have only played it a few times.
August 23, 200520 yr They should have named it Madden 2005 1/2, not Madden 2006. This game is identical to last year with a few lame features added (like the stupid vision cone). The running game has been tweaked a little so that aspect is a lot more fun, but the rest of the game is basically the same as 2005 with updated rosters. ...oh wait, they have new intro videos and music .
August 23, 200520 yr I have never bought a Madden nor will I ever buy a Madden title, but I would just like to say Good going EA for screwing over your loyal fanbase on your first year of exclusivity. That must be so proud of themselves. :plain
August 23, 200520 yr I'm very content with NCAA and Triple Play....although may get a jonesin for some Madden when the NFL season starts.
August 23, 200520 yr I thought NFL 2K5 was a great game, personally, and I have never been a big fan of Madden(the game). I do, however, love EA's NCAA football games, I hated playing in stadiums where the crowd effect was so big, I could never complete a pass. And now, I am just waiting for The Road To Omaha, EA's college baseball game(and I think it's a long time coming).

August 23, 200520 yr I like the new Madden, the problem I have with it is it's extreme. You will play a 3-0 game then a 51-40 game. I am probably going to go back to NCAA very soon.
August 23, 200520 yr I hated the ESPN series of games, but I'm disappointed it's gone, because the competition seemed to push the Madden team to work harder on their product. I bought the game this year (and got Splinter Cell for $5 when buying it, which was about the only plus I can see so far) and am not very impressed, especially with the superstar mode, though I actually do like the passing cone idea.

But, as far ask NFL 2K5 goes, I thought SEGA did an awesome job. I still havent bought everything in the crib, and am on my 6th or 7th season, and thought the overall play of the game was outstanding, and playing celebrities...even b list ones that made custom teams...was a nice innovation. Great endzone celebrations, good music, some players might of been rated a bit too high but thats minor. The inlusion of Sportscenter and Boomer with the halftime and post game reports was a nifty idea, and the inclusion of a digital Suzy Colbert can never be wrong. Player models were spot on. My only problem with the game was flags being thrown way too often and refs missing in/out of bounds calls way too much
August 23, 200520 yr I'm glad I rented for free. I would never want to spend on money to rent game I already have.
August 24, 200520 yr The Superstar mode rocks but the QB vision aspect sucks ass. The other noticeable difference is that interceptions happen far more frequently.
