September 15, 200520 yr The man is what he is, AJ Burnett is a career .500 pitcher (actually I think he's a game over, but whatever) and with guys like that, your going to get inconsistencies. Some games, he is great, while in others he isn't. The fact is, AJ has some of the best stuff in baseball, but he IS NOT a pitcher, and when he can't blow people away (which has been the case lately) it's gonna be a long night. The thing also is, with that kinda stuff he has, every team thinks they will be able to unlock the treasures of AJ and get him to PITCH rather than THROW, and as a result, some team is gonna wildly overpay for Burnett, and all I can say is good riddance. Burnett is showing his true colors, and he is NOT a clutch pitcher, or a consistent one. Bye bye after this season A.J. Burnett, enjoy the Northeast, wherever you end up up there.

September 15, 200520 yr he didn't pitch that bad the bullpen blew it 946708[/snapback] Umm..the bullpen didn't "blow" the game, the offense did. Even if the 'pen allowed no runs, we'd have still lost 3-2.
September 15, 200520 yr Big Players Make Big Plays On Big Days. AJ did not make a Big Play on a Big Day. In fact, he didn't make any plays on said Big Day. Therefore, AJ is not a Big Player. -----o----- Non-Big Players don't get Marlin Money. AJ is not a Big Player. Therefore, AJ will no longer be a Marlin. I'm so smart.

September 15, 200520 yr I seriously doubt AJ will have a career year next year because he'll have just signed a big contract. I think alot of players get too nervous after signing a big contract thinking they need to perform very early on or they've lost a key incentive (i.e. getting more money). I've noticed that alot of players tend to play their best ball during the year in which they'll be a free agent in the off season. Which begs the question, Are flashes of greatness (his 4 game winning streak after the trade deadline) mixed in with abysmal performances the best Burnett can ever offer a ball club? I think that's the case, and have very real doubts about his ability to do any better.
