Posted September 22, 200519 yr I guess I haven't kept up recently, but who the hell decided to claim Quantrill off the waiver wire? Uh, yeah, thanks Jack. Thanks for the memories, but don't let the door hit you on the way out.
September 22, 200519 yr I didn't second-guess this decision, I first-guessed it... I wasn't a Monday Morning Quarterback on this one, I was an early Sunday Morning Quarterback.... This was the most ridiculous thing I have seen in a long time in baseball. You practically have to win-out to reach the playoffs. In a tie game in the bottom of the ninth inning, a pitcher who has been released TWICE this year, and was acquired after the SECOND trade deadline is your best option??????????????? Unacceptable. Inexcusable. Ridiculosity. I've never been a McKeon-blamer for losses, but I want to hear his explanation for this one.
September 22, 200519 yr So who were you going to pitch? After last night Resop, Moehler, Jones, unavailable. AA has a bad elbow can't go more than one inning. Mecir's shoulder is toast, something is obviously wrong with Mota, Messenger and Villone already used, who do you have left? It isn't like someone lit up Quantrill. The only guy I can think of who was left was the Johnson kid from AA. I wish it were different but it isn't.
September 22, 200519 yr He's here to mop up innings and is one of the last options off the bench, sure it's preferable to never use him but in the times he has been used, we didn't have much of a choice. And he's pitched a few times already this year and there were a few threads about it, how did you miss this!?!?
September 22, 200519 yr 2005 Paul Quantrill = 2004 Billy Koch = 2003 Nate Bump You mean that guy who was 4-0 that year?
