September 27, 200521 yr What is your analysis after his first two years as the Marlins manager? If you really thought about it are you prepared to see him go after all he has done for this Franchise? Or are you ready to quit on him and look for a new manager at the end of the season? :mischief2
September 27, 200521 yr Why add to the drama. The writing is in this paragraph. We just didn't get it done. We're all responsible," McKeon said. "I'm not going to blame anybody. I'm the leader of the ship. I've got to be held responsible."
September 27, 200521 yr He's good as gone. I respect what he's done for the franchise, but it's overly evident that it's time for a change. However, I'd also get rid of Beinfest and the entire coaching staff, but I don't write the checks or make the decisions.
September 27, 200521 yr Author Why get rid of Beinfest? I think he is the most creative general manager he has made us competitive almost every year. I think the coaching staff should get fired especially Bill Robinson.
September 27, 200521 yr I may be in the minority here but... I wouldn't mind seeing Jack back in 2006. I'm pretty sure he's not going to be back by choice or by force but I wouldn't mind having him back. The most important thing to me is that he be allowed to decide this. If he wants to come back for another season, I think he should be allowed to. In his 2.5 seasons as manager we have had winning records for all of those seasons and of course a WS title. He's made moves to cost us games, but what manager hasn't? I don't see a new manager not costing us games, it's going to happen. If he doesn't want to come back that's understandable but I really hope he's the one that makes that decision, in my opinion there's no reason he should be shown the door.

I'm pretty much with Admin here. I would happily have him back in 2006, but I think Jack's ready to call it a career at this point. I don't why he'd want to deal with this team or this situation any more. The bullpen alone is sure to shave a couple years off his life. He's not going to change his style at this point. He seems like the kind of manager who expects players to take responsibility for their own performance, good or bad, and we just have too many players who appear unwilling to do that. I'd rather get rid of the players than the manager in this instance, but it's not going to happen. I just hope we don't hire some manager who's going to be everyone's best friend. Maybe Nick Saban can coach two sports.
September 27, 200521 yr I'm grateful that Jack is the first manager to get the Fish 2 (possibly 3) straight winning seasons along with a world series win. However, I don't believe he's the best for the job anymore and can't lead the Fish to a title next year. I'd rather see a manager with more enthuasism next year.
September 27, 200521 yr Something about that 3rd year "curse" that Jack has everywhere he goes kind of turns a fan off. From seeing what I've seen this year, I don't think that he should be back. I won't get into it again because alot of you already know my opinion of his managing style. Personally, I think that these Jack threads are irrelevant because we all know that he'll be going too. On a related note; Is it a common thing for members of the media to read sites like this and get material? I remember that it was done earlier in the season by a writer. It may have been done again. This morning on my ride to work, I was listening to WQAM and "the Big O" referred to Jack McKeon as Barry Switzer. Those of you that may have read a post of mine a few days ago may remember that I made the same connection when another person asked something along the lines about what kind of sense does it make to fire a manager/coach 2 years after he wins a championship. My response was pointing to the fact that Barry Switzer was fired a couple of seasons later and I added some other stuff in ridicule, but more or less trying to make a connection between Jack and Barry. I also threw in the name Phil Jackson too. Do you all think that it's a coincidence that "the Big O" made more or less the same reference this morning? He even referred to Jack as "Jack Switzer" and "Barry McKeon." I obviously have the same thoughts as him, but personally I question a media person that gets material from a fan site. That is unless he's willing to share some of that salary that he makes with me. Us teachers don't make much, even with the extra $$ I make from coaching.
September 27, 200521 yr Jack did what no one thought could be done. I love Jack for what he did here. The Marlins have never had success like with Jack as manager. 3 straight winning seasons. A WS title. Two years in a row the team was in a playoff race down the stretch. I wish Jack the best but I hope he is home in North Carolina watching the Marlins on the tube next season. Love Ya Jack...Thanks for the memories.
September 27, 200521 yr The team has looked lifeless since mid-ay through the 2004 season. Time for a change.
September 27, 200521 yr it's not a matter of quitting on him. Teams need a change from time to time. Sometimes it's just as simple as having a new voice to motivate you. Jack did a great job with the team in '03 and I'll always be grateful for that. At this point Jack may very well be ready to call it quits regardless.

Love Ya Jack...Thanks for the memories. I can't fault anyone for having an opinion one way or the other, but I have to say this in reference to everyone that keeps making statements that seem to make Jack as the only manager in Marlins' history capable of putting together the 2, maybe 3 consecutive winning seasons. Has everyone forgotten about Jim Leyland and what happened to him? Do you all really think that he wouldn't have been able to achieve that feat before, had the 1997 team not been broken up? Hell, if that didn't happen, Leyland might still be the Marlins' manager to this day. Not to crash on the Jack Supporters parade, but he isn't the only manager that was capable of that feat. He was supported by this front office and ownership unlike other Marlins' managers like Leyland. He has had the talent on the field. Where he will go down as having our most surprising season, he will also go down as the Marlins manager that led them to their most disappointing season ever. This is one of the few Marlins' teams that have underachieved. The only teams close was maybe the 2001 or 2002 teams.
September 27, 200521 yr Jack holds a special place in my heart. He woke this team up and guided them to the World Series. But it's apparent his magic has worn out. It's time for him to leave. I hope the Marlins do something nice for him on Sunday and the fans give Jack a standing O. I will miss him.
