April 3, 200620 yr Jimmy Rollins final at bat: Ball, Ball, Ball, Rollins double down the LF line.. Congrats dude!
April 3, 200620 yr Even if he passes DiMaggio, Joe hit in 56 games straight during the same season. Rollins would have to pass that in a season for me to consider him as having beaten the streak. I just don't think that doing it between two seasons counts.

There are other streak records he could have gotten that have stipulations for the multiple seasons as well.

I think it's a lot easier when he gets 8 months off, as the pressure is not on him every day.
April 3, 200620 yr This was already addressed by MLB. Rollins would have his own record (multi-season streak) and Joe D would have the same record he's held since '41 (single season).

April 3, 200620 yr there is no way he breaks the record I agree Still going to be fun to watch though

It makes it a lot harder over an 8 month span because he has to think about it every day, it's not like he spends those entire months traning, he has to re do all his training and hit praactices. It would be much easier to continue back too back because it's like a momentum carry, the kid just all of a sudden stopped playing. I understand where you are coming from but it's more then just "oh he got an 8 months break way from pressure" becase he has to deal with the dreaful day he reurns too the plate to try too keep the streak going.

Rich Waltz said that exactly.
